Well, today was a good day. My boss snuck in and snuck back out while I was at lunch, so I made him come up again … haha. He liked his card and his cake and kept talking about how nice it was and all that stuff, so it was pretty cool. He hung out for a minute and told a few funny stories, and he laughed at my card, which was pretty damn funny too…. so it was all good.
I love birthdays…
lol
My poor Joe.. he’s so exhausted. he’s hanging out on the east coast this week for work and by the time he got to the hotel last night, it was 11 their time (about 8 his time), and he woke up really early, so he only got a few hrs sleep…and I guess he worked all day today (like 12 hrs), plus they all took everyone out for dinner. he managed to listen to my story of the day, but he’s so exhausted. the only thing i love about when he’s really tired is he gets all sleepy and cuddly, and even when he’s far away, i can still tell that. i love cuddling with him when he’s all sleepy and stuff.
man, i miss him. lol
i’ll get to see him this weekend though, so that’ll be fun.
i dyed some yarn today!! i used some burgundy cake-dye that i got at Michael’s, and it turned out hot pink. it’s AWESOME.
one of the things on my bday wish list is going to be some undyed yarn, so i can dye up some more. maybe i’ll hand paint some stuff… ohh the possibilities. ![]()

Cheers from Atlanta! Unlike some trips, this is pretty much a work-only one (might try to sneak in vaction-ing for thursday/friday though!).
Yeah pretty much our workday starts at 8am, and we are scheduled to be on-site until 8pm.
To be very high-level, we are simulating a data recovery (and restoring full operation from this site) from either a hurricane in the gulf, or a quake in the bay area. (it’s about 1000x more complicated but you get the idea).
Day 1: Not too bad. Learned our weak spots, and also what problems that we need to resolve, so that’s progress.
Work handles all food/lodging, so it’s very comfortable. One of my non-industry tasks is to grab lunches for everyone, so we try to mix it up and be creative w/ where we order in from. For dinners same idea but we eat out instead of bringing the food to our recovery site since the workday is done by then.
The first day was rough for the California folks (not so bad for Central timezone ppl such ast Louisiana and Texax ppl since they only had a 1hr diff). We left at approx 1pm PST, got to hotel at about 11pm EST (so we got to a hotel to sleep at about 8pm california time).
You can imagine at 8pm, you aren’t tired, so 3 hours later (11pm California time) you finally crash. (sure enough, that’s 2AM east-coast). 3-4 hours later, you wake up. That’s 2-3AM California time that we left for work (sure it’s 5-6am local, but w/ only 3 hours sleep, not long enough to adjust to the time-zone diff).
So it was very rigorous, but we survived somehow. Finally on a normal clock (EST time) so it’s 6:35AM Eastern (and am over the time diff. slept wonderfully last night).
Hope all is well, and I’ll pick you up at the airport Saturday, just uh…can you forward flight info to me? lol
(don’t seem to have it at personal email, will check work email today though).
Joe

Hi Joe!!!! I am totally jealous that you are in Atlanta. If you want the best hot dogs and onion rings, head downtown to the original Varsity. It isn’t much to look at but the food is excellent!!! Oh, and if you stop by Olympic Park, I have a brick in the ground with my name on it as a donor to the Olympics when they were in Atlanta. (Cool huh?!) It is around the fountain. *Hugs*
