Well, after reading on blogs about starting the 101 in 1001 project, I decided on New Year’s Eve that I have to participate in it.

My start date was actually yesterday, and I started by writing down some list items in a blank journal. I originally picked up the journal to write about my trip to CA from TX, but we did it so lightning fast (well, as lightning fast as you can do it in a 16′ Penske truck carrying all of your worldly possessions), that I never got a chance to write any of it.

My list is short so far because we spent yesterday cleaning and hanging out w/ Joe’s best friend, but if you’ll notice list item #1… well, we’ll see how it goes. eheh

If you need a charity to knit for, let me know. The charity I am involved in has its members donate soft knit caps for children who are cancer patients so they would love the donation. I will send you the link if you are interested.

I’m a Bay Area native, and as you said, our weather rocks. What makes this storm so important and frightening is that we’ve been in a drought for a few years now. The ground is extremely dry and can soak up a lot of water, but not all at once. Since this is our rainy season, we expect and need rain so the snowpack is good, which translates into water for the rest of the year (especially since we’re an agricultural state); however, we rarely get this much rain all at once with high winds anymore. Years ago, this was the norm for the winter; however, as time has passed, our rains have become lighter. People seem to forget how to drive in it after months of sunshine. The other problems with high winds are tides higher and more viscous than normal, flooding of small streams and rivers, and swinging bridges. They may close the Bay Bridge down if the wind gets too bad. I was on it once during a storm like this and it scared the hell out of me. The bridge was swinging from side to side, and the hood of the car almost came flying up. I hope that explains why this is significant.

Fantastic list. For #41 do not go to a chain store. Go to a dress store or an old time Cotisserie. It’s the only way to get the proper fit.
