No Disneyland this week.
As we were getting ready to leave yesterday, Joe goes “We can save about $150 if we leave at like 2 in the morning.”
So we were supposed to go to bed early, wake up in the middle of the night, drive to Disneyland, play at Disneyland and turn around and drive back, all in one day on like, 2 hours of sleep.
Stupid idea, in my opinion, and I knew if we planned to do it that way that we were NOT going. I got in bed about 9, set the alarm for midnight, and didn’t fall asleep until about 11:20. The alarm went off, and I’m like… screw this. I don’t sleep very well in cars, and Joe was going to do all the driving, and I’m like… no. I’m not dying on my way to or from Disneyland.
So now we might go Memorial Day weekend, and now I’m bummed, because I was really looking forward to going this week.
Oh well.

Aw, I’m sorry. I’ve never been and I’d be really excited to go, too.

I’ve been going every year since 1958 and have pretty much experienced the park during every time of year. I don’t want to throw water on your parade, but you’ve picked one of the worst times of year to go. For those kids who have “regular” school (vs. year-round school), that time of year marks the beginning of the season. It’s going to be PACKED. Bring lots of water and prepare yourself for LONG lines - like a minimum of two hours for each popular ride. With waiting times like that, it may well take you two to three days to go through the entire park - and then there’s California Adventure, which isn’t anywhere near as popular as D-land. It used to be that the park had off-season (not just the prices, either) - you could literally get off a ride like Space Mountain, run around to the entrance, and hop right back on. Those days are gone with the advent of the year-round schools. I don’t know how many kids you have, or if you have small children, but it helps to map out where you’re going and in what order. They also have Fast Passes, which allow you to snag a pass that gives you a window of time in which to get on the ride (and bypass the really long lines). You still have to wait, but it allows you to get in a much shorter line.
The park is well worth the waits; there are lots of things to look at and do other than the rides. Bring a sense of humor, patience, and a sense of wonder, and you’ll have a blast. It’s always the best the first time you go; you’ll see things that you didn’t know could be done. Have a wonderful time - and don’t forget the sunblock!

That is a bummer!! First you had to miss knit night and then you didn’t even get to go to Disney — boo!
At least you had fun in Vegas, though!
