So, I was talking to June on IM, and she asked where I got all the yarn. So here are some of my favorite online shops.
Knit Picks: the yarn store version of Walmart. Cheap yarns that are decent for the price you pay. If you’re on a budget, I highly suggest this place, and if you spend at least $30, you’ll get free shipping.
Jimmy Beans Wool: This is probably one of my favorite places to order from. Flat $4 shipping. I’ve had a couple issues with things being out of stock, but they’re more than happy to accomodate you however you wish, and they personally send emails to let you know that it might be out or they’re waiting on stuff or whatever. And they always send a piece of candy with the orders!
Elann. This place is awesome. I love their Peruvian Highland collection wool. And I’ve ordered some of the Peruvian Alpaca. ANd well, I love their store yarns. They also sell some other stuff like Jo Sharp & some other things I can’t think of. If you spend $500 (cumulative - not all at once), they’ll give you a $50 credit. and for every book you buy from them, you get a voucher towards yarn purchases. Canadian based, but they have an office or whatever just this side of the border as well, so shipping is not a nightmare.
Wool Needlework. This place is based in Canada, and if you don’t mind waiting for stuff, this place rules. Noro Kureyon? is only $6.59 or something like that a ball. SIX FIFTY-NINE!
Patternworks. This place is pretty cool. On some things, they have a lot more stock and colors (Lamb’s Pride), and some things, they’re stock kind of sucks. It’s sort of a crapshoot depending on what you need or like. They send out catalogs though, so if you sign up or something, you can get one.
The Knitting Zone. I’ve ordered from this place a few times. Nice stocks of stuff, a little on the expensive side, at least on things that I’ve noticed.. but this is yarn & patterns and stuff. I think they’ve started doing the credit thing like Elann, but I haven’t ordered from them since they started it.
Loop. I’d never heard of them before they did an advertisement thing in the Knitter’s Review newsletter a week or two ago. They had a sale going, so I checked it out, and ended up buying a bunch of stuff from them.
Well, not a BUNCH, but the Kureyon I posted earlier & some of the Silky Wool.
Fiddlesticks Knitting Patterns - not a yarn store, but they have really awesome patterns. I want to knit like, all of them. lol.
The Woolie Ewe: My LYS, even though I’ve only been there once or twice. I’ve never successfully ordered from the website, so if you can figure it out, more power to ya.
….
more as I think of them.
