hello, lovely

I am so EXCITED!!

Not for any particular reason, other than it’s my FAVORITE MONTH.

I LOVE October, and other than it being Fall, and my birthday is in 27 days, and Halloween is in 30 days, and it’s just… OCTOBER.

I have loved October for a very long time, and while I suspect it has a lot to do with the fact that it’s my birthday month, there is just… nothing LIKE October.

It’s the first full month of fall. Regular Season Hockey starts.
It finally starts cooling down. September still has the whole “summer” thing for most of the month, so I don’t really think it starts to cool off until October.

It’s also the only month of the year that starts with an O.
AND… it’s less than 2 months until I will be back in Dallas.

I’m so excited!!!!!

Today’s my mom’s birthday - Happy Birthday!!!!!!!
I got her a spiffy… well, I think it’s spiffy… present, but since I don’t think that they’ve done presents yet, and she does occassionally read the blog, I won’t talk about it here. I”ll let you know what it is when today is over.

Anyway, it’s come to my attention that I haven’t blogged in a million years. I have to say that I have PRIMO blogging time while I’m at work… except that I can’t. They’re serious about the blockity-block at work, and Flickr’s blocked now. lol. Not that that means I can’t blog, but I don’t want to tempt fate. So anyway… while I might think of a million things to say, I can’t do it until I get home. And when I get home, I’m tired and bleh, and I don’t even like to look at the computer, even though it’s on and I’m checking email and keeping AIM open for possible chatting opportunities. LOL

A couple of major things, though, are in the works, or happening:
1) I AM GOING HOME FOR THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!!!! Woohoo!! We got the tickets, and booked the hotel room & the rental car, and we’re coming!!!! We get in Sunday night and leave Friday afternoon, so I’ll be there for a good chunk of time. I want to get together w/ my peeps for dinner on Sunday night… Tuesday is Knitter Day. I know I’m for sure going to the Starbucks meetup, but I’m hoping to sneak in a bit of yarn shopping at my old haunts, too. We’re hopefully planning a trip to the Arboretum in there, too, but I have to be honest that it’s more like a running joke than anything. I hope we get to go, because I think it’d be fun, but… if we base it on our previous attempts, it probably won’t happen. LOL Lots of fambly time, and then the big Gourge Fest. lol I wish I could have come in earlier and leave later, since I’m missing a bunch of cool things on Saturday, but it was like, $250 more (per person) just for the FLIGHT. So… we did what we had to do.

2) Joe is going on his first business trip since I got here! I get the whole place to myself for a few days, and I can’t decide if I’m happy or sad about it. LOL THe good news is he’s leaving during Fall TV premier week, so I get free reign of the tv. *g*

That’s about it on my end. Here’s hopinig that I get some actual work to do today. Or that I get to knit. Bleh.

Sorry for the lack of posting. The most exciting thing that’s happened the last couple weeks is that we got a new car… but I haven’t taken pictures of it yet, so I didn’t really feel it was worthy to post it. It’s pretty and blue.

So, I’ve been seriously neglecting the ol’ blog here. I finished Harry Potter on Monday while at work (seriously.. I’m so slow, that’s what I did for most of the day, until I finished it).

So, I like my job, and I feel bad about whining about having nothing to do… but I wish I had work-related things to do. The good news is, I’m getting a lot of reading and knitting done, and I’m going to be making a dent in my bookshelf. I’ve found that if I have a book that will stay open on its own and a fairly easy pattern, I can knit while I read - something I’ve been wanting to master for a long time. heeh

I’ll try to post more. Really. LOL

Also, please wish congratulations and best wishes and happy thoughts to my pal, MellyPie and her brand-new husband! They got married this past Monday.

Also, Happy (belated) birthday to my friend Jerry!! His bday was yesterday.

today was a blast. i woke up and immediately threw laundry in the dryer and waited impatiently for the clothes to dry. after that, i went out an did my shopping. I managed to get presents for my sercret pal, gas for my Sophie (uh, the car), a magazine holder thingy & a gift card for Katy [i couldn't find a toy that seemed perfect enough. they all seemed to "old" or too "young", and i didn't want her to end up with 12 of the same exact thing, and i didn't want to buy her all clothes, so i figure this way, she can get whatever she wants, and they don't have to mail or carry it on an airplane back to Colorado. lol], and the biggest card of the party (seriously. and it was a Strawberry Shortcake card-which was the theme of the party- and was about the size of an 8×10 piece of paper… actually, more like 6×10 .. perfect, much?).

after the party, we all split up for a couple of hours. i went to the mall, flirting with the idea of getting my hair cut at the spiffy hair salon there. it’s too expensive, and I didn’t really know what I wanted done. actually, that’s not even really true. i want them to cut it like I always get it cut when I cut it. *lol* because that’s cute. but i don’t maintain it. but it’s cute. lol since i didn’t do that, i went home and uploaded the pictures, and put them on a cd for dina.

i left about 6:30 to meet everyone at Cheddars at 7, and we waited and waited and waited. our group ended up getting split up for a good portion of the time (company policy against putting more than 2 tables together or something?? whatever). i think we ran a foursome off at one point too.  after dinner (i had 2 drinks–a mudslide martini? and a strawberry margarita–but no dessert…how do we go to CHeddar’s and not get the Cookie Monster?!), we all left the restaurant so we could go to Main St., and I had to detour for a bit, but I finally made it out there. So I was fashionably late… so what? I was the first one to Katy’s bday party! I had to make up for it somehow! eheheh  I just kind of stood around. Dina tried dancing with me a few times, and I played along once, but really I just had to laugh.  I like to dance in the privacy, and I do stress the word privacy, of my own home.  i finally bailed about 12:40 or so. John and April were leaving, so I took that as my cue to leave too. I was really tired at the time, and I didn’t want to walk out alone, but now that I’m home, I’m kinda awake. *lol*

The one bad thing about 3 day weekends is it really effs up my sleeping schedule.

Dina:  All joking and guilt trips aside, it was soooooo awesome to see you again. I shouldn’t speak for everyone, but I know that we all love you sooooooo much, and we miss you a TON. Which is actually sort of funny, since we see you about the same amount now that we did when you were here [or at least I do, ahah], so really it’s kind of the same (give or take a 1000 miles. eheh). It’s that we KNOW you’re not a few miles up George anymore that makes it harder.  We’ll have to get on planning that Spring Break trip.. ;)  ROAD TRIP!! muahah.

Tomorrow Today’s schedule includes lots of DVD watching and lots of knitting. I really have a bug up my butt to clean, but now that I’ve said that, it probably won’t happen. Now? I’m off to crash.
