I am really tired. lol.
J’s been off at work, and apparently I can’t sleep if I’m by myself in the apt anymore. Fun! So I’ve been staying up late and getting up at my normal time for work, and I can’t WAIT until the weekend. I’m hoping to catch up on sleep tomorrow evening, but he’ll be back Sunday, so hopefully I’ll be back to normal then.
So, this probably won’t make a lot of sense, considering how tired I am… but I’m feeling the need to voice an opinion. And to hear keys clicking on a keyboard. This post will probably be extra ramble-y and make very little sense. You’ve been warned, lol.
I am sad for the people in Haiti. I hope for the best for them. Now that I live in California, earthquakes are “real.” I’ve been through my fair share of them, but they’re just little ones. I’ve been very fortunate not to have been through a Big One, but the threat is always there. Every week, there’s something on the news about “THE BIG ONE” and preparedness. I know times are tough for everyone, but we live in one of the richest countries in the world, if not THE richest country in the world. I donated via text. The fact that we can say that … that we can just send a text message, and there! donation made! THat said a lot. I know it’s only $10, but every $10 helps, and the fact that the Red Cross has raised over $4 million dollars just from text donations speaks volumes. If you haven’t yet, just text ‘Haiti‘ to 90999, reply to the message you receive with “yes”, and your $10 donation will just be added to your next phone bill. Easy peasy! Go help some people!

I know I’ve been pretty silent over here, but because I’ve been staying up late, I’ve gotten my share of Late Night viewing. I grew up watching NBC. We always watched shows that were on NBC… my family’s favorite news programs always seemed to be on NBC, and, in my era, Johnny Carson was on NBC. Obviously when I was little, I didn’t stay up and watch the Tonight Show. When I got a little older, though, I did. It was a little easier when I lived in the Central Time Zone, because shows came on earlier. LOL
I remember when Jay got the Tonight Show. I always enjoyed the Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno. Headlines gave me a reason to look forward to Monday nights, and after an episode of Jaywalking (or some similar segment between the monologue and the first guest) where Jay gave a guy in a really crappy car money out of his own pocket for gas or a taxi or something, I always thought he was a nice guy. I was proud to watch the show, and I just liked him as a person. My parents took a trip to Las Vegas and LA a few years ago. They were driving around and somehow ended up outside of Jay’s house. I think it was one of those Maps of the Stars Homes kinda things, but either way… they were looking around, and Jay happened to be leaving. He stopped to talk to them and took pictures with them. It was the highlight of their entire trip!
Obviously, I am not in the middle of the whole Late Night War thing that’s going on, but it seems to me like Conan’s getting screwed by Jay. Or NBC. Or both. I think it sucks. I think the stupid execs have put everyone in a crappy place, and I am supremely pissed at Jay for taking back the Tonight Show. If this really happens, I will not be watching the Tonight Show ever again, at least while Jay’s on. I’m sure my not watching won’t mean anything in the big picture, but it makes me feel like I’m doing something. I mean, I’m in a Facebook group with a bunch of people called “I’m with CoCo” lol. I can’t be the only one. Letterman’s been pretty funny lately. Honestly, we’ve been usually watching Letterman because we watch the shows we watch are on CBS. We watch the news on CBS, and then it’s Letterman time. When I have time, I catch Conan on Hulu.
Mostly, I”m mad that they made him move his whole family and staff across the entire country just to say “SUCKER!” There are families and lives at stake here, and I think the powers that be at NBC (hey! that rhymes!) are being really unfair.
NBC, you suck.

You’d think that in 2009, if you were stuck at work and wanted to watch the Inauguration of the first President that You Actually Voted For, you’d be able to!
The TV we use for video conferences is not “set up” for real TV, and all the websites that you’d be able to watch it on are BLOCKED!
I tried my phone, but it’s not letting me either. WTF?!
I guess I’ll have to see it on the news.

Oh my gosh, how quickly things can change in just an evening… and not I’m a good way. Yesterday was very depressing.
I walked into work yesterday morning, high off Tuesday night’s victory for Obama only to have the wind knocked out of me. My “work BFF” was laid off yesterday, and I’m still reeling from the shock of it. Nobody is safe in these hard times, and yesterday was a reminder of that. S is a great girl, and I am sure she will land on her feet, but the rest of us admins sure do miss her.
On top of that, I am pissed off at my fellow Californians for passing a completely stupid proposition. To my friends who are in a same-sex relationship, I am so sorry you are being treated so unfairly. I hope that one day we will fix this.
(if you couldn’t tell, I have nothing to do right now, so I just typed up this whole post on my iPhone. It looks likes novel on here, but it will probably only be like 2 sentances long once I post this. LOL. I really wish I could read or knit right now, but that’s a little harder to hide if necessary. I am so glad I bought this thing!)

I can’t wait until this weekend. Specifically Saturday.
Do you know why? Because then I can stay up until whenever and I can sleep until whenever, and then I don’t have to get up and do anything crazy like…….. go to work the next day.
I shouldn’t have started the whacked out movie I’m watching right now. It’s almost done, but still … it’s way late.
I don’t know why I’m whining about something I can fully control… just turn everything off and go to bed, but nooo.. that would be way too easy. And I felt like typing.
hrm. remind me not to blogpost when I’m tired. lol
I have nothing to say. I’m restless.
I need a vacation.

- Woke up.
- Did nothing until approximately 11am when I hopped in the shower.
- Got dressed.
- Looked up and printed directions.
- Drove to Half Price Books to sell some books.
- Was pleasantly surprised to find it next to a brand new JoAnn’s Superstore (instead of the rinkydink crappy JoAnn’s I have near me.)
- Sold the books.
- Got new books.
- Went to JoAnn’s.
- Found self-striping dishcloth cotton, the newest Interweave Knits magazine, and some gifties for swap pals.
- Drove to Nine Rubies (yarn store)
- Bought some Souvenir yarn and yarn for a Christmas Present
- Walked to Starbucks & ordered a Pumpkin Spice Blended Creme Frap.
- Walked back to the car and drove home.
- Hung out at home for a few hrs, knitting & watching shows on abc.com
- Got pissed off when I found out Women’s Murder Club wasn’t available to watch online.
- Went to Target to get two birthday cards, some candy, and laundry detergent.
- And tissue paper. But they were out. Of like every color except white.
- Went to the Grocery store.
- Bought dinner and dessert (Drumsticks, yum).
- Forgot the damn tissue paper.
- Came home.
- Made frozen pizza & sat down to watch tv.
- TV sucks.
- Knit & watched more shows on abc.com
- Typed up this stupid boring list because I’m bored but not tired enough to sleep yet.
I am so boring. The good news is I’m all caught up on Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, and I saw the pilot episode of Samantha Who? I’m STILL pissed off that Women’s Murder Club is not online. ESPECIALLY since the web page has a link to “Watch this online!” and links directly to their stupid player.
In other news, I found local knitters, and I’m getting together with some people on Thursday. I need to figure out how to work the vcr/dvd recorder thing.

Okay, it is sad that I don’t have more than this to post about, but it’s like 104 here today, and every chair I sit in is so annoyingly hot. Every chair in the office is a leather chair. The seats in the car are leather seats. I get in the car, and I burn my butt off. I’m cooler at work if I stand. People around here don’t believe in decent A/C.
The good news is that I don’t think it’s supposed to be this hot tomorrow. I hope not. I moved to get away from this kind of crappy weather. It wouldn’t be so bad – it’s cooler near the coast – but we’re just inland enough that it can get stifling out here! Ugh.
Overall, today has been a craptastic day, but the weather and my stupid chair is not helping.

So, I’ve been seriously neglecting the ol’ blog here. I finished Harry Potter on Monday while at work (seriously.. I’m so slow, that’s what I did for most of the day, until I finished it).
So, I like my job, and I feel bad about whining about having nothing to do… but I wish I had work-related things to do. The good news is, I’m getting a lot of reading and knitting done, and I’m going to be making a dent in my bookshelf. I’ve found that if I have a book that will stay open on its own and a fairly easy pattern, I can knit while I read – something I’ve been wanting to master for a long time. heeh
I’ll try to post more. Really. LOL
Also, please wish congratulations and best wishes and happy thoughts to my pal, MellyPie and her brand-new husband! They got married this past Monday.
Also, Happy (belated) birthday to my friend Jerry!! His bday was yesterday.

Man, I really can’t stand Pledge Weekends on PBS. I understand the need for it, but they always show “special” shows, and none of the cooking shows I enjoy watching are on.
This is a dramatic change now that I’m older. Back when I was a kid, it meant Anne of Green Gables marathons, and all kinds of cool movies and such. Now? not so much.
I don’t have much to talk about lately. I think I’m going to play hermit this weekend.
