Every time I hear a new Green Day song or see a new Green Day video, I am 13 again. I am sitting in the apartment my mom, sister and I lived in during summer vacation. I am listening to Dookie. I am watching MTV non-stop, waiting for for the NEXT Green Day video to come on. I am on the phone 8+ hours a day with my boyfriend at the time, or I am online in a local BBS chat room, talking to online friends… typing Green Day lyrics back and forth with a friend who lived in Houston, crushing on a guy who kinda looks a bit like Billie Joe & actually gave me the time of day. I am wishing I had enough money to buy that copy of Kerplunk! I see everytime I go to Blockbuster Music. I am also trying to find a copy of 1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, which is nearly impossible to find… and when I do find it in a CD Warehouse-type store (except more indie and much cooler) in Addison, the world is ending because my mom won’t give me the money to buy it.

I did eventually get that copy of Kerplunk! I spent birthday money on it. We went right back to Blockbuster Music, where it had been but no longer was. I FREAKED OUT. They looked it up in the system, and the computer said they had it. They had to go dig around in boxes for it. I also got the copy of 1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours. I threw a tantrum of EPIC proportions when we were back in the car, and I don’t remember why my mom gave me the money for it, but that she did. I had to run back into the store and get it, wiping tears off my cheeks.

I share with you my newest trip down memory lane…

Green Day – "21 Guns" – HD

Stolen from kc, again. Check out the last one I stole from her.

Here’s a music meme to reflect how eclectic your music collection might be. Put your music library in alphabetical order by song, then take the first song for each letter of the alphabet. No repeat artists. Tag five people then let them know they’ve been tagged to do the meme themselves.

A – Addicted to Me – The Click Five
B – Bab’s Uvula Who? – Green Day
C – Cailin – Unwritten Law
D – Daisy – Switchfoot
E – Easier to Be – Lifehouse (It’s actually Easier then Love by Switchfoot, but I already used that band!)
F – Face Down – The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
G – Galaxy – Jason Mraz
H – Half-Life – Duncan Shiek (Hallelujah – Jeff Buckley is 2nd! LOVE that song!)
I – I’ll Be Loving You Forever – New Kids on the Block (hahahaha)

Okay, so I didn’t watch American Idol religiously this season… sometimes we’d happen to catch it while waiting for Hell’s Kitchen to come on, and sometimes, when we didn’t have Netflix, we’d watch it on Wednesday nights, but I wasn’t really attached to anybody. I liked Jason Castro, and I liked David Cook.

WOOHoO!! Congrats to David Cook, the new American Idol!!! :) I hope he’s insanely famous and comes out with an awesome cd, because I think I’d like a cd he did better than any of the other contestants. :) I also like how he made all of his fellow contestants come hang out with him while he sang. :)

Way to go, David C!! :)

Ummm, I had something else to say but I forgot what it was.

Okay, so I don’t usually watch the Jimmy Kimmel show because the late night shows actually come on late at night here, and I’m sleeping by then, but a month or so ago, I saw the following video on Perez Hilton (which I now read religiously thanks to Teresa! lol):

Well, apparently, Jimmy had a rebuttal last night on his Oscar after-show. It’s pretty f*cking funny. ;) And Dina, you totally have to watch the whole thing the whole way through. One of your Celebrity Boyfriends is in it. hee hee.

Crack. Me. Up!!

I love it when my iPod knows exactly what I want to listen to. I’ve neglected the many gigs of music that are on my iPod lately in favor of catching up on all of the podcasts I have let lapse (yes, most of them are about knitting. yes, I’m a dork… but you knew that already!) since I moved to California. I think the most I had to listen to was almost 200. The smaller 5-10 minute ‘casts were great for timing my breaks; the longer 30-45+ minute podcasts were good for lunch breaks or on the weekends when there’s nothing on TV.

Well, I’m caught up now. I listened to the last one this evening, which I actually downloaded today, and now there’s nothing on tv. So… I’m listening to music. I decided to shuffle songs

I haven’t kept a running tab of songs played, but my iPod is giving me lots of Green Day, Matchbox 20, Bowling For Soup and other stuff to listen to. I have a lot of music that is on there that I’ve never listened to, and I’m getting a fair amount of that as well. Edgewater just played.. Oh, in 11 secs I can tell you what’s next… “Hold it Up” by The Rocket Summer. My iPod loves Dallas musicians today. *g* I love it when my iPod and I are on the same wavelength.

Joe’s had a super crappy week at work this week (including the entire weekend last weekend), so send him some no-stress vibes… poor thing. :(

I’m also going to have a new toy to show you sometime by the weekend. I love new toys.

Next song? “Paper Lights” by Ehren Starks.
What’s your iPod (or computer, or other mp3 player, or cd player, or your Pandora or… whatever you listen to music on) playing?

So Maroon 5 came out with a B-sides disc, and I downloaded it with iTunes, thanks to some gift card balance that I still had (Thanks, Dina..and uh, someone else. lol). I have to say that it is probably 7 of the best songs that I’ve heard in a long time. :)

Thanks, Dina & TC for getting me excited about Maroon 5 again. I hope you enjoy your copies. ;)

Today has been all about my favorite band.

Everytime I got in the car and turned on the radio, or turned on my ipod, or turn on the shuffle in itunes, I’ve gotten to hear at least one Green Day song – sometimes more than one! At lunch time, I was listening to the radio, and someone texted the DJ saying that they saw ♥ Billie Joe ♥ at a Long’s Drugs (it’s like Eckerd, or CVS, or Walgreen’s or whatever.. only in Cali. lol). I think I would fall over and DIE if I ever ran into Billie Joe … well, anywhere. Imagine myself being all calm, cool, and collected, and either a) leaving him alone or b) going up to him and saying “I have been in love with your band since I was 13. You rule.” but really? I’d probably stand there, pointing, with my jaw on the floor. Or I’d become brave, given the once-in-a-lifetime circumstances and be all like OMGILOVEYOU IWISHYOUHAPPYBIRTHDAYONYOURBIRTHDAYEVENTHOUGHI’VENEVERMETYOU!!”

Yeah, I am so cool.

Blatantly stolen from Dina.

Name the top five songs you are listening to right now and your favorite part of the lyrics for them.

Jenny by The Click Five

First You say you won’t, then you say you will.
You keep me hanging on, and we’re not moving on.
I”m standing still, Jenny. You got me on my knees.
Jenny, it’s killing me.

*okay, this has nothing to do with OUR Jenny, but it does make me giggle when I hear her name in the song. lol*

Hey There Delilah by Plain White T’s

A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they’ve got planes and trains and cars
I’d walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
and we’ll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
Delilah I can promise you
That by the time we get through
The world will never ever be the same
And you’re to blame

Home by Daughtry

I’m going home,
Back to the place where I belong,
And where your love has always been enough for me.
I’m not running from.
No, I think you got me all wrong.
I don’t regret this life I chose for me.
But these places and these faces are getting old
So I’m going home.
Well I’m going home.

Happy Birthday by The Click Five

Hey you
I know I’m in the wrong
Time flies
When you’re having fun
You wake up
Another year is gone
Twenty one

I guess you wanna know
Why I’m on the phone
It’s been a day or so
I know it’s kinda late
But happy birthday

Yeah yeah whoa oh
I know you hate me
Yeah yeah whoa oh
Well I miss you too
Yeah yeah I know
I know it’s kinda late
But happy birthday

*Okay, you actually have to HEAR this song, to get why I like this part. BTW, I’m really loving The Click Five lately, in case you couldn’t tell.*

Paralyzer by Finger Eleven

Well I’m not paralyzed
But, I seem to be struck by you
I want to make you move
Because you’re standing still
If your body matches
What your eyes can do
You’ll probably move right through
Me on my way to you

Okay, so as you may or may not know, I’m leaving my job because I’m moving out to Cali.

My boss and I have a really cool boss-employee relationship.. one that involves many jokes and lots and lots of stalkerish 80’s songs. Basically, I love working for my boss more than I’ve loved working for any other boss ever. EVER. And I’m very sad to be leaving him, and if I could pack him up with us, and take him to CA so I could still work for him, I TOTALLY WOULD. lol

I decided, as a tribute to the year and a half (ish) that I’ve worked for him, I’d put together a compilation of songs. Because it’s so freaking funny, I’ve decided to share the playlist with you. In no particular order (because there are still two days of possible songs), I present to you the Goodbye Mix:

SexyBack – Justin Timberlake
Don’t You Forget About Me – Simple Minds
Amanda – Boston
Waiting For A Girl Like You – Foreigner
If You Leave – OMD [This may or may not stay.. depending on what happens the next couple of days. LOL]
Always Something There to Remind Me – Naked Eyes [This may or may not stay, depending on what happens Friday & Monday]
What’s Love Got To Do With It – Tina Turner
Ice Ice Baby – Vanilla Ice
Don’t Stop Believin’ – Journey
Gloria – Laura Branigan (LMAO)
Hard Knock Life – Jay Z
Ride Wit Me – Nelly
You Give LOve A Bad Name – Bon Jovi [This may or may not stay, depending on what happens Friday & Monday... This song wasn't actually FOR me. ehehe]
Could’ve Been – Tiffany [hahahaha.. may not stay.]
Hero – Dollybraid
I Will Survive – Gloria Gaynor [Something to get him through... LOL]

So, I have to post this, because I think that everyone should check out his fabulous cd. :)

My pal, Damian, released his debut solo cd last year. It’s finally available online, so you should definitely check out his myspace for a little preview of the cd, and then BUY it! You won’t be sorry!

Manda & Damian

[Besides, if you want to see some awesome pics, most of the ones in his CD insert are MINE! :D *squee*!]
