Dear 3-Day People,

Please stop showing commercials for the 3-Day on tv. We’re NOT signing up again. We’re NOT. While it is 60 miles of “pure love”, it is also 500 miles of training TORTURE and aches and pains and long-lasting injuries (to a couple of people I know).

I’m glad I did it, but you, dear over-played commercial, will not guilt me into it a second time. I like my feet.

That said - if you’re participating, let me know. I’d be happy to donate. ahah :)

Okay, so for Christmas, I decided, after seeing a commercial, that I needed to get the cats at my mom’s house a Christmas present. Usually they’re happy with mounds and balls of wrapping paper, but considering the item that was being advertised, I figured they deserved something special.

Enter Chia Cat Grass!

My mom just sent me video of the cats enjoying their Christmas present, but I couldn’t view the video for some reason. Thank you, Vimeo. Now I can also share it with you. ;)

FOG is the big news story of the day in SAN FRANCISCO!

Actually, apparently it’s pretty dense fog (visibility at 200ft), and it just decided to roll in, but still…. it kind of cracks me up. :)

I upgraded to WP 2.7, so if you notice anything wonky, please let me know. Now that I’ve upgraded to 2.7, that means 2.8 will be out tomorrow or so. LOL

I KNEW when I posted the pics that someone would ask to see the front, but I’d only taken a pic of the back/length of my hair for the first pic, so I figured the back/length pic would be a better comparison for the 2nd pic.

BUT… since Dina is SO DEMANDING… here’s a pic of the front:

FRONT

OH WAIT.. you probably meant you wanted to see my face, huh? ;) Please excuse everything about this picture. It’s 1am and I’m tired. LOL

FRONT B

Two posts in one day? It must be a Christmas Miracle! :)

I decided to get my hair cut today, so while I was running errands, I stopped at Great Clips (I know, I know, but it’s cheap & I can go in whenever I want) and got my hair chopped off. :)

Before - Long, long hair. I could touch the bottom of it with my hand behind my back.

Haircut : Before

After - shorter hair! It’s still a little too short to put into a ponytail, but that’s okay. It’ll give me a chance to wear it down for a couple of weeks. ;)

I can’t believe it’s almost the end of the year already. That’s INSANE. This year went by way too quickly. Anyway, here’s a meme.

What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before? I trained and participated in a Breast Cancer 3-Day. When I started, I never thought I’d actually be able to walk 60 freaking miles, but holy crap. We figured out the mileage including training & we could walk from here to DisneyLand with all the miles we put in.

Did you keep your new years’ resolutions and will you make more for next year? I don’t think I made resolutions last year… and if I did, I don’t remember them, so I probably didn’t keep them.

Did anyone close to you give birth? My friend Melanie had her little girl & my friend Annise had a little boy. I also found out two more people are pregnant. :D

Did anyone close to you die? Nope.

What countries did you visit? Just USA

What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008? A nice chunk of change towards a house, and a spinning wheel.

What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? September 5-7 and November 4! The 3-Day, of course. It was the most amazing experience I’ve ever had the chance to be a part of.. if you can walk, I definitely suggest trying it (or something like it.. like the Avon walk? It’s less mileage, but still a ton of work) once. And, of course, history being made when Barack Obama was elected president. :D

What was your biggest achievement of the year? surviving the 3-Day and all the training. The whole thing took up about 3/4 of my life, between making the decision to do it in January, and actually signing up and training for it in March/April.

What was your biggest failure? Not saving anything significant towards the Get A House Fund.

Did you suffer illness or injury? Some foot issues, but those stopped after I got my magic shoes. :D

What was the best thing you bought? My laptop.. without the new one, I wouldn’t be here posting right now. LOL

Whose behavior merited celebration? I think it’s pretty great that Britney Spears seems to be getting her shit together, but maybe that’s because I read Perez Hilton way too much. LOL

Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? All the people in the state of California who voted YES on Prop 8.

Where did most of your money go?
Yarn & my part of the rent.

What did you get really, really, really excited about? Our Las Vegas trip, my trip back to Dallas, the 3-day (in the beginning), the 3-Day being over (at the end of the thing), Twilight

What song will always remind you of 2008? Time of my Life by David Cook. He was this year’s American Idol after all. LOL

Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. happier or sadder? the same
ii. thinner or fatter? the same, though I was thinner for a few months this year. LOL
iii. richer or poorer? the same

What do you wish you’d done more of? Saved more money, traveled, read more books

What do you wish you’d done less of? Walking. Okay, not really, because I wouldn’t had made it, but seriously. At the end there? I was read to throw in the towel!

How will you be spending Christmas? At Joe’s parent’s. I’m hoping for mine next year. :D

Did you fall in love? No, I’m already there! :)

What was your favourite TV program?
Bones!

Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? Nope.

What was the best book you read? This was the year of Twilight, for sure. I didn’t read as many books as I would have liked, but I did love the “In Death” series books that came out this year, as well as the “Sign of 7″ series. I need to read more.

What was your greatest musical discovery? I don’t think I really discovered anything new this year.

What did you want and get? malabrigo sock yarn? lol

What did you want and not get? A spinning wheel

What was your favorite film of this year? I don’t know. We see a lot of movies sometimes.. the biggest one that I really liked was Dark Knight. I should say Twilight, but it was seriously hokey.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I spent my birthday yarn shopping (2 Hobby Lobbys and the Woolie Ewe!), trying to get maintenance done on a RENTAL CAR, OMFG!, eating dinner with my friends, sitting in traffic on the way to knitting, and knitting w/ some of my knitter buds :D I turned 28.

What one thing would have made your year immeasurably satisfying? Winning the lottery? lol

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008? Work Out Chic (though more work out, less chic. rofl)

What kept you sane?
Knitting.

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? I don’t think I cared much.

What political issue stirred you the most? Prop 8, I think. Not that I really did anything about it except vote no, but yeah. it still pisses me off, and I’m not even gay. Also, Sarah Palin scared teh CRAP out of me.

Who did you miss?
My friends and family, also my free time from April-September. LOL

Who was the best new person you met? Linda, who lead our 3-Day training walks in San Francisco. I could NOT have done that without her training routes. I hated waking up that early, and I hated those hills, but OMG. We couldn’t have had better training.

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008: I CAN do anything I put my mind to.

Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

“This has not been easy, this has been hard, I am scarred, and I do not know what to do with you..” –Miss You Love You, Maroon 5

Randomly walk into a restaurant and go straight for the three sets of patrons who are in there, stuffing their face with Mexican foodie goodness, and say “Excuse me, would you like to make a donation?”

Um. No. We’re EATING here.

Now… the exception to the rule would be if you are already AT a restaurant, and the restaurant is doing some sort of sponsored fundraiser (like when we did our fundraiser at Chevy’s), and all you have to do is give them a flier to give to their waiter. Obviously, say excuse me… but don’t just randomly walk into a place you’ve not been while people are eating and BOTHER them. They don’t like it when people call and interrupt dinner time, so they’re not going to be very responsive when you get right in their face in a restaurant either.

The End.
