So, I’ve been seriously neglecting the ol’ blog here. I finished Harry Potter on Monday while at work (seriously.. I’m so slow, that’s what I did for most of the day, until I finished it).

So, I like my job, and I feel bad about whining about having nothing to do… but I wish I had work-related things to do. The good news is, I’m getting a lot of reading and knitting done, and I’m going to be making a dent in my bookshelf. I’ve found that if I have a book that will stay open on its own and a fairly easy pattern, I can knit while I read - something I’ve been wanting to master for a long time. heeh :)

I’ll try to post more. Really. LOL :)

Also, please wish congratulations and best wishes and happy thoughts to my pal, MellyPie and her brand-new husband! They got married this past Monday. :D

Also, Happy (belated) birthday to my friend Jerry!! His bday was yesterday. :)

Okay, back before Joe and I really thought about it, we had plans to get married this year. April 28, 2007, to be exact. Like, five days ago, right?

As any good bride-to-be, I signed up for a bunch of wedding/bridal email lists, including pretty much everything at theknot.com, which apparently turns into “the nest” when you get married. [I never changed or deleted the stuff out of theknot.]

OKay.. let’s re-cap.. FIVE DAYS AGO, I “got married” as far as this website is concerned. Why, then, did I just get an email with the subject “Rev up your relationship!”???? LOL Something tells me if you only last 5 days before you need to “rev it up”, you have major issues that should’ve been tackled BEFORE getting married. LOL :)

Also, the countdown has started. 11 days until I’m off to Cali. :)

Well, I started the new year off right - sick. I normally only get sick about once a year, so hopefully this is my one time. It’s turned into a slight cold, but I’m still a bit tired and I can’t wait until I can breathe normally again, without the assistance of meds and Kleenex.

Monday was the first day I sort of felt human. I ate about 3x the amount of food on Monday than I did the rest of the weekend (which is to say that I actually um.. ate). Getting sick is the easiest way to lose weight. ;) Go me for sticking to that resolution. ahah :) [Just kidding, btw]

Joe and I managed to see 3 movies (The Pursuit of Happyness, The Good Shepherd, and The Illusionist) and watch the whole first season of 24 this visit. I’m now going to have to either get him the rest of the seasons, or plan my Netflix list around his visits so we can watch the next few seasons. The new season starts on the 14th, and as long as the show’s regular schedule is not on Thursday, I’ll have to add it to my short “Must-See” television list. LOL :)

We also made an executive decision regarding the wedding and it will not be happening in April. We are NOT breaking up [I have to say this because I mentioned it to Teresa this morning, and she gave me the most horrified look I've ever seen. LOL] but with my moving out to CA around the same time and either transferring or getting a new job, it’s too much all at once with the wedding on top of that. This past year was supposed to be our “together” time to find out if we could be together without killing each other, and …well, it didn’t happen like that. So we’re going to take a few months to settle in together and then worry about it from there. We’ll be together forever and ever, so I’m not worried about it. :D Dina, I know you were planning on coming out here at the end of April anyway, and…well, that’s still on. We can turn it into Teresa’s belated birthday party or an engagement party or a “YAY! DINA’S HERE!” party or an early going away party or a “happy spring!” party or … whatever. We all know it’ll be used as an excuse to go out drinking. ;)

Tuesday, we didn’t do much of anything.. slept til damn near 1pm… finally got off our butts and out of the house around 2:30. We went to Costco for lunch and to walk around (I got a costco membership for xmas from his fambly!!), and then we went to the post office. Apparently nobody knew that it was closed down for Gerald Ford’s rememberance day or whatever, but I only needed to use the Automated thing anyway and I got my package sent out.

We ended up having to run him to the airport a little earlier than we thought.. his flight got bumped up and left earlier than it was supposed to! We made it in time, but ended up really doing a drive-by dropping-off.

After I dropped him off, I went to my mom’s, and my stepbrother and his family came over, and we all kinda hung out. it was fun seeing them… I pretty much only ever see them at Christmas… lol, so … it was nice to see them all again. :D I came home after that, and watched a few episodes of Boston Legal while I finished my first knitted object of the year - A UT Longhorns logo dishcloth for one of the guys at work. :) He was pretty excited about it today. :D I’m going to make one for Dennis too, so if he reads this…well, it wasn’t a huge surprise anyway. Just a “just because” kind of thing. :) It wasn’t the exact color orange, but it was as close as I could get it. I know you Longhorn Fans can be picky. ;)

The first FO of 2007

Well, I’ve gotten all typey and chatty, and now I have to get going. :) Back to the grindstone and all.

Well, Teresa and Alex have finally tied the knot. I was lucky enough to be there, after having a discussion with a co-worker about witnesses. The fact that I was standing right next to her and go “Do I need to ask Bossman for time off?” sealed my fate as witness.

I really didn’t do much other than witness, and as it’s not my story to tell, you all have to WAIT until Teresa decides to get online and post about it. Which may not be until Tuesday.. and maybe not even then, depending on her work load. *muhaha*

I leave you with one picture, taken before the ceremony so that means it’s fair game, of the happy family (and a silly Gabby picture):

Silly Gabby, Trix are for um.. Mandas?

Thinking Out Loud

Okay, so I don’t know if this is really happening or not, but the more wedding plans are discussed, the more I shut down. DISCLAIMER: DO NOT PANIC ! I DON’T KNOW IF THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING! I’M JUST THINKING OUT LOUD! *ahem*

I think we’re going to have a Vegas wedding. It sounds fun and cheesy, just like we are. And I really can’t deal with the hassle of planning a wedding with the amount of money we have. We have a certain amount and want to squeeze as much as possible out of it, and this doesn’t leave much for wedding expenses. Like, oh, say, a $600 wedding gown, and flowers, and food for 100 people and decorations and finding a place and OHMYGOD! I just.. I can’t.

I’d rather spend the money on us having a blast. Like, in Hawaii. And I really want to go to Vegas. *lol* :) Joe was very Anti-Vegas when I first brought it up, but now he’s done a 180, and I’m the one dragging my feet on it now. I know I’d really LIKE to have the dream wedding - the pretty dress, lovely bouquets, silver and purple and black all around, but I don’t want to PLAN it. I don’t want to PAY the kind of money that is spent on weddings for one day of “yay, we’re married!” I’d rather have a kick ass vacation.

Here’s the plan we’ve been going over:
+ Vegas Wedding & mini-vacation (spend a night or two there)
+ Come back to Dallas & have a party. I’m thinking having a potluck kind of picnic thing. It’s laid back and it sounds like fun. We’ll bring stuff for burgers and hotdogs and stuff, everyone else brings a side dish or a dessert (and, y’know, a present. *grin* ehhehe), and everyone has fun. This is also good for all the kids that could show up - they can play in the park & have fun, and if they get dirty or spill something, it’s not as big of a catastrophe :D
+ Go to CA & have a party picnic thing there, too. This way, no one feels left out or spend a bunch of money on airfare if they can’t afford it.
+ Go to Hawaii for a freaking awesome vacation. :D
I’m thinking about doing my own invitations w/ RSVP cards that have like, check boxes for which date they can attend or both or neither.

Like I said, I’m just thinking out loud. We’ll see what all happens. There’s a lot of time to figure this stuff out. I just had to get it out. *lol*

And I’m scared to tell people in person. ;)
