While I’m still sitting here blogging when I should be getting dressed, yesterday was drastically different than the last week-plus. I didn’t dread answering my phone when it rang. I fixed problems (that were not my fault… LOL) right away. I managed to get all my pregrades back with lightning speed (and have them be correct). I got to joke around w/ the bossman a little bit. It was a good day.
I came home, putzed around for a little bit, then went to return a camera battery I bought 2 months ago, but didn’t open because it was a) the wrong size and b) i didn’t need a backup battery anyway. That gave me a whopping 10 extra dollars, and I was able to buy a drink at Shoemaker and Hardt when I went to the knitting meetup. It was a small group last night, but fun nonetheless. I took my lovely Sockbug with my sock knitting in it and yarn to knit a square for my co-worker blanket. One of the other ladies in the group and I showed our sockbugs off… (she posted about it, and I had to go get one myself. LOL… we’re knitting twins, when it comes to socks. LOL). It was a great night.
Then I came home - got online for a little bit and then talked to Joe. After about 20 minutes, he had to go, but I ended up reading and almost finishing one of the books I’m reading. It’s the one I’m borrowing from my co-worker, so it’s a good thing to finish that one so I can give it back to her before she goes on maternity leave. LOL
Okay… enough wasted time. going to get dressed.

Normally, this is about the time I’d be gathering my stuff or finishing up the email I was reading so I could go to work and read some more email (my mornings are usually very slow).
But today? Today it’s about time for me to leave, I still have to go to the bank, and… I”m not even dressed yet. ANd instead of getting dressed, I’m sitting here typing out how I’m still not dressed.
Do I know how to procrastinate or what?

*sigh* I love the people I work with, and the actual work isn’t so bad, but lately, things have SUCKED for me there.
All I want is for the rest of the week to go off without a hitch. No mistakes, no stupid crap coming up, no stress, no nothing to beat myself up over because this is exhausting.

Well, today was a good day. My boss snuck in and snuck back out while I was at lunch, so I made him come up again … haha. He liked his card and his cake and kept talking about how nice it was and all that stuff, so it was pretty cool. He hung out for a minute and told a few funny stories, and he laughed at my card, which was pretty damn funny too…. so it was all good.
I love birthdays… lol
My poor Joe.. he’s so exhausted. he’s hanging out on the east coast this week for work and by the time he got to the hotel last night, it was 11 their time (about 8 his time), and he woke up really early, so he only got a few hrs sleep…and I guess he worked all day today (like 12 hrs), plus they all took everyone out for dinner. he managed to listen to my story of the day, but he’s so exhausted. the only thing i love about when he’s really tired is he gets all sleepy and cuddly, and even when he’s far away, i can still tell that. i love cuddling with him when he’s all sleepy and stuff. man, i miss him. lol
i’ll get to see him this weekend though, so that’ll be fun.
i dyed some yarn today!! i used some burgundy cake-dye that i got at Michael’s, and it turned out hot pink. it’s AWESOME. one of the things on my bday wish list is going to be some undyed yarn, so i can dye up some more. maybe i’ll hand paint some stuff… ohh the possibilities.

PLEEEEEASE don’t make me have to do anything at this stupid presentation other than say “Hi, I’m Manda… I do pregrades and sub the files.” (actually… if I can just say “Hi, I’m Manda..” that would be better. ACTUALLY.. if I could just not say ANYTHING, that would be SUPER [aside: remind me to post a joke later.. LOL].)
I sorta slipped in the shower this morning, and I think I was subconsciouly trying to KILL MYSELF so I wouldn’t have to go today.
(Okay, not really. It just happened… and I’m okay.. didn’t fall or anything.)
Why can’t I just sit at my desk and do my work like any normal day?
EDIT: UPDATE!! The meeting wasn’t as bad as I dreamed it up to be… I shook a few hands, but pretty much I was the girl in the corner clicking the mouse button. The first half of the meeting barely even involved us… so it was pretty cool. I ended up working a little later tonight cuz of all the hoopla, but that’s fine.
I remembered the joke I wanted to post, and here it is:
A major airline’s passenger cabin was being served by an obviously gay flight attendant, who seemed to put everyone in a good mood as he served them food and drinks.
As the plane prepared to descend, he came swishing down the aisle and announced to the passengers, “Captain Marvey has asked me to announce that he’ll be landing this big scary plane shortly, so lovely people, if you could just put your trays up, that would be super.”
On his trip back up the aisle, he noticed a well-dressed rather exotic looking woman hadn’t moved a muscle. “Perhaps you didn’t hear me over those big brute engines. I asked you to raise your trazy-poo, so the main man can pitty-pat us on the ground.”
She calmly turned her head and said, “In my country, I am called a Princess. I take orders from no one.”
To which the gay flight attendant replied, without missing a beat, “Well,sweet-cheeks, in my country, I’m called a Queen, so I outrank you. Tray-up, Bitch.”

Dude. Who in the world steals granola bars???
I had a box of granola bars in my desk drawer, and they are nowhere to be found. They were in the same drawer with a bag of candy, and two boxes of poptarts (I eat breakfast at work), and all of that stuff is there. All of that stuff except my granola bars.
WTF?!

If you happen to find me asleep or zoned out at my desk today, please make a lot of noise or smack me upside the head or something like that.
I’m not all “here” today.

Gah.
I hate it when the fact that I’m human turns around and bites me in the ass.
Two days, and two of my mistakes have surfaced.
I think we’re going to be able to work around them, but at the same time, I just don’t know. I always get so talked up, so it really kicks my ass when I screw up. I’m by no means a perfectionist, but I hate it when I screw up badly. :/
I didn’t get yelled at or in trouble or anything, it was just kind of a “EEK!” sort of day. I was harder on me than Bossman probably is. He’s like “Did you not have your Wheaties that day?!” *lol*
Oh well. Tomorrow’s Friday Eve … let’s hope it’s better than the last two days.

I’m surprised I’m still awake. This weekend has been SO LONG, but so much has happened. I can’t believe I’ve only been off two days. *heh*
My weekend, obviously, started Friday after work. Alex picked Teresa and I up from work, and we went to get Gabby at daycare. We dropped the two of them off at home, and Teresa and I made our way to the Relay for Life. Was pretty good… we walked more than anyone in our group. *lol* We ended up crashing at her place so we could get some sleep before the hockey game.
Can I just tell you that I effing love playoff hockey????
And how sad I am that it took me until 1999 to realize how freaking great this sport is?!?!
Teresa’s Bossman got her tickets as a “Thanks for being an awesome assistant” present, and she was kind enough to take me, even though my team is like, one of her least favorite. (I think Dallas rates above Phoenix, but I could be wrong… ask her. hahah) Game one of the Western Conference QuarterFinals… Dallas Stars vs. Colorado Avalanche. HELL YEAH.
It was GREAT! Even though my team lost… but I figure I can give her that one game, y’know? I mean, HER boss bought HER the tickets, so HER team should win, right? As long as Dallas wins the rest. What we’re HOPING is that my boss loves me enough to hook us up with like, let’s say… Game 7 tickets. *hahah* (Yeah right, but two girls can dream, right?)
But yeah, it was SO freaking cool.
After the game ($&^#(*% 5-2 loss for Dallas. FIVE TO FREAKING TWO! What the hell is that?!), we hopped on the train and went back to get Alex and Gabby so we could go to Teresa’s belated birthday party. The original plan was to go see Edgewater, but then we ended up going out bowling. It was pretty fun. We bowled two games, and it took about 2.5 hrs. haha. Gabby got to play, and it took 5-10 minutes for the ball to get down to the end of the lane and think about knocking over some pins everytime it was her turn. It was so cute though. *lol* At least we got our money’s worth, I guess. It’s expensive to go on the weekends. *lol*
After that, we all said our goodbyes. Teresa, Gabby & Alex ended up going home, and Stacy & Erik went home or went to do their own thing, and April, John, Dina and I ended up going to IHOP. It was pretty cool. :)
I had a great time… I love my friends.
Today I didn’t do anything. I didn’t get any groceries, and I didn’t do any laundry, and I didn’t clean anything at all. I need to get boxes so I can start packing stuff up.
Well, I guess I did SOMETHING. I watched about 11 hours of movies today. Well, sorta movies. I watched Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel, and I cried like a baby a couple of different times. I also watched CSI, and Alias. Yay While I was completely productive and doing that, I finished the TX square I was knitting on, and I managed to get to the foot part on the sock I’m working on. I have probably 4-5 more inches to go on the foot before I start the toe decreases, and then they’re done.
I also need to work frantically on April’s baby shower gift. HA. It’s a good thing I have a lot of travel time during the week. *g*
What else? I guess that’s it. I talked to Joe for a little bit on his way home from HIS exhausting weekend, but he was so tired he ended up ditching me once he got home to go to sleep. That’s okay though, because he sounded reeeeeally tired.
This week at work should hopefully be fairly uneventful. It’s the end of the month, which equates a pretty slow week for me, while it’s kinda busy for the other side of our “team.” I think I’m supposed to go sit in U/W and get lessons, but I don’t know if they’ll want me to go during end-of-month time. I might just get in the way, so I’ll have to discuss it with Bossman while I’m giving him a hard time tomorrow.
I have to say that I really, really love my job. I know it seems like everytime I post, I’m gushing about Bossman, but it really is amazing to me how much I adore the guy I work for & the stuff I have to do. I mean, ok.. maybe I don’t adore the work, but I enjoy my time while I’m there. That makes me REALLY happy. I love that I can wake up in the morning, and while I might not always be like “YAY! LET’S GO TO WORK! WHEE!!” right away, it’s nice to not DREAD going in for a change. I *hated* going to work when I was at Albertson’s, and I tried to think up all kinds of ways to call in, or ways to just.. walk out and never go back. I don’t have that at this place, and that’s really nice.

Today’s been a long day, but that’s partly my own fault.
See, I got the bright idea last night, when I was leaving work, that I was going to bring TC a cake to work. In order to do that without her seeing it, I had to get to work early. This means instead of lying around until 6am, taking a quick shower and tossing some clothes on, I actually had to wake up. At about 5:15-5:30 and get out the door by 6.
I managed. I got her cake & she was surprised, and yay!
Then I went to work, and worked.
Bossman called me, and he asked what I was doing, so I told him I was just twiddling my thumbs. He’s like “Oh, that’s no good!” And I’m like, “Just kidding. I’m working hard like I do every day.” and he’s like “And that’s why I love you.” LOL.
Tomorrow I have a stupid meeting in the morning. It’s kinda pointless for us sales assistants… it’s highlights from the big conference the Sales Guys had to go to a couple months ago, and the assistants and everyone else in the office get a play-by-play when the AEs come back home anyway. And it’s right in the middle of our file-preparing time. Good thing I didn’t have anything left over from today. I managed to get all my files in, so that’s good. But still. I’d rather be at work, working, than watching a stupid video of a guy painting or whatever they decided to do this year.
It’s kind of hilarious though - we have to be to work earlier than normal, and I get to sleep in, because one of the guys, who goes past my apt in the morning, is going to stop by and pick me up for it. heeh
Then tomorrow I get to cut out a little bit of the day to go hang out at the other office to get some U/W training.. so I know what the hell I’m doing. I mean, I know what I’m doing, but my training on subbing files consists of the quick training I got from TC when I first started. I know what to look for and to make sure it’s IN the file, but I don’t know what to look for to see what will kill the file or just what little secrets to look for that might slow the process or things I can do to help speed it up.
Yay, work.
