To Do List

Oh my god, the to-do list-ness I have in store for TODAY. Yes, just today.
I went to my mom’s last night & missed the bus, so I hung out there an extra hour, and ended up not getting home until 9pm. Oh well. :) Thankfully MOST of my packing is done.

- Make sure I have everything packed.
- Still need to pack another pair of pants, a skirt, and another sweater or shirt.
- Pack enough socks to get me through the trip. (I’m a freak about my socks. I can’t re-wear socks until they’ve been washed, because previously worn socks are stretched out and loose and are generally just gross.)

- Charge Camera battery
- Download newest OLP album. (Keep meaning to, after he reviewed the album a few weeks ago. Reread the Current Entry & see if I need to snag anything else. ;)
- Update iPod w/ new OLP album & knitting podcasts. I know one or two of them have updated since Xmas.
- Charge iPod

- Charge Cell phone.
- pack all of my charging paraphenalia
- Watch “Happy Endings” so I can return it & be done w/ Blockbuster for good. (If I don’t do this, it’s okay. the movie doesn’t need to be back til Jan/Feb.)
- Make sure I have Joe’s purchased present & Joe’s family’s knit-gifts.
- work on blanket as much as humanly possible
- deposit Christmas check from grandparents along w/ refund check from cancelling stamps.com (a whopping $1.61. I’m so rich, I can’t even stand it. heheh)

- Clean out fridge & take out trash (can be done in morning)
- wash any dishes I have sitting around (none! if you can believe THAT!
- drop off rent check.
- pack up stuff to mail (HP book for Daisyhead, Joe’s xmas gifts from family)

Dec 26

So, like, yeah. I’m tired.

I just got home (a while ago) from spending the weekend at mom’s. Christmas was lots of fun.. I got some lavendar bath stuff, a Knitster t-shirt & mousepad, a gift certificate to buy clothes, a binder for all of my knitting patterns, some steak knives, Scene It! Harry Potter edition (I kicked my sister’s ASS last night ! woohoo! hehe), uhmm.. some candles & a glass w/ a cow on it, and um.. a knitting book, and I feel like I’m forgetting something, but that’s all I can remember right now.

Oh! I got a 6 piece baking set & a lens cleaning pen from my Secret Santa! :) thanks, Santa! :D

I went to Hobby Lobby today w/ my mom to get some jewelry stuff. I’m going to make a bracelet & some stitch markers. Then I decided to stock up on solid colors of dishcloth cotton, because most of what I have is variegated.

After Hobby Lobby, we went to Dillards & I saw this really cool purse (that was on sale half off), but it was broken & kinda falling apart already & well, no. (I liked the coffee-taupe one, if it doesn’t show up like that). I was looking at some of the Fossil bags too, but they didn’t have the one I wanted. I ended up getting some hot chocolate stuff & some asst’d chocolates. lol :)

anyway. i’m kinda tired, so i’m going to go take a nap or something.

oh, and i discovered yesterday? that i have to rip out part of gabby’s sweater. lol. i did the right and the left fronts the same….. as two left fronts. sorry, but i don’t thinkt hat will work *lol* :) so now I have to rip out that whole section (only a couple inches), and knit some more on joe’s present. i made it thru another color change, so i’m haaaaaappy! :) i’m about halfway into another colorchange, so that’s good. good, good, good. i only have 2 colors to go, so i’m getting there. :)

Merry Happy!

Well, I probably won’t be blogging after today. I’m lazy & I dont want to lug my laptop around, so other than a possible email-checking tonight or something, I won’t be around until I get home.

All my presents that I need for today are finished/wrapped. mom’s coming to get me in a little while. I’m taking my knitting.. because I have like a week to knit the rest of Joe’s present.

{Random: Nothing like hearing a little “Dead & Bloated” on Christmas Eve.}

Mom’s coming to get me in a little while & we’re going to stop at the store for a few things + Claratin for me, because I think I left it at the house.. but no one can find it.

Annnnyway.. :) Happy Merry Chrismakwanzaakuh! :)

Okay, so I apparently stepped in dog crap sometime this morning after I got off the bus. So at some point from the minute it takes me to get from the bus stop to the building, I stepped in a big ol’ pile of dog crap and didn’t even know it.

There are a couple of things wrong with this - if this dog wasn’t a stray, a) what in the world are they doing walking it in an office building parking lot? and b) why in the world didn’t they PICK IT UP?! aren’t there LAWS against leaving stuff like that around or something?
I mean, seriously.

I cleaned most of it off my shoe, thankfully, but still. Ew. It’s the stuff that’s still ON my shoe, in the grooves of the sole of my shoe, that are stinking to high heaven. Everytime I move my foot, I smell it, and it’s giving me a headache. Ugh.

Lunch w/ the Girls.
icon1 Manda | icon2 A Day in the Life, Working Girl | icon4 12 21st, 2005| icon3Comments Off

Today I had my first “Lunch w/ the Girls.” TC was out taking care of Gabby, and I didn’t know what I wanted for lunch, so M was like “Are you going?” I didn’t have a present, and I told her so, and she’s like “That’s okay! Just go anyway!” … I have to have lunch, right?? Well, I had a stroke of genius and wrote up one of my leftover Christmas cards w/ an IOU for a hand-knitted item from ME :) Whoever got it could pick a scarf or a hat or socks or a bag, and give me color suggestions & I’d knit them up something. :) Lots of mixing it up, since we did White Elephant. My gift got picked last, of course.

Why do my presents always get picked last? Everyone knows (ok, maybe they don’t know) that I pick the best gift. Everyone wanted it, or at least acted like it, after they found out what it was, so what’s the deal? *lol* I ended up getting a copy of “How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days”, which I jacked from D cuz I didn’t want to pick my own present. I mean, I’m going to be knitting stuff for me all year. It was fun to get away for a little while & not have to worry about anything. I ended up being gone for 2 hrs, but I was with the AEs, so that’s okay, right? RIGHT? hehe

I called about my glasses, because my receipt said I was supposed to have them Monday (with the holidays, I expected a delay but wanted to call on them anyway).. she said they should’ve been shipped out tonight, and I should get ‘em tomorrow or Friday. I really, really hope they come in on Friday. I’d love to have them for Christmas. “All I want for Christmas is my eyesight back….”. lol.

Enough typing.. I have some last minute knitting to do .. trying to get the last present I HAVE to have done before Xmas knitted so I can felt/full it tomorrow night or Friday after work. I think I’ll wear my Santa hat tomorrow. No one’s really going to be there, it seems, so .. yeah. :)

If I don’t get to post before then, I hope those of you who celebrate Christmas have a Merry Christmas! And those of you who celebrate Hannakuh (sp?) have a happy Hannakuh (sp?) since it starts on the 25th. And those of you who celebrate Kwanzaa (I’m not sure when it is) have a Happy Kwanzaa! And happy Yule/Winter Solstice! (I think I got all of the holidays in.. *g*).

Dec 20

I haven’t posted in a few days because I haven’t really known what to say. So here’s an update on what’s been going on the last few days.

Today
I took the day off work because I was going to a funeral today. April’s mom passed away last Wednesday, and this is very sad news because she was kind of like a second (or third or fourth*) mom to all of us. Even me, and I was a late joiner. She was funny and sarcastic and was NOT afraid to tell you if you were being stupid. *lol* The funeral was at 2pm, and Teresa & Alex picked me up, and we went. Dina & Stacy were there, and we all sort of leaned on each other. I started bawling at one point (I took it harder than I thought I would), and Dina hugged me, then she goes “Here, have a bunny tissue.” Well, before the service started, she showed us all her bunny tissues, and I thought it was just the packaging. Well, no. it was really tissue with a bunny on it. Not expecting it, I let out a cough/sneeze/laugh thing, and then I proceeded to laugh at myself (silently. I’m good at the silent laugh). Yeah, don’t take me to anything where you have to be “appropriate”.. that’s apparently the message I was sending. Thankfully we were right at the back, so I don’t think (I HOPE) I disturbed too many people, but it was extremely embarrassing. I like to think Pat would see the humor in it, but who knows. It was kind of just too much, I guess.

My heart goes out to April & John & the rest of April’s family, even if I didn’t really say anything - just hung on for dear life. The American Red Cross was kind enough to fly April’s sister in for the funeral (she lives in Germany where her husband is stationed) & to be with her family, so if you can spare a couple of dollars or airline miles to donate in Pat’s memory, it’s greatly appreciated by the family.

(I also got the address on my permit fixed & bought some groceries - just some milk & stuff & semi-cleaned the apartment & almost finished the last clog I have to knit. It will be done by the time I got to bed, then it just needs to be felted.)

Monday
Not much. Just work.

Sunday
Slept. Didn’t really do much of anything. I started and finished the scarf for Joe’s dad. I watched Freaks & Geeks, Party of Five, and Nick & Jessica, Season 2&3.

Saturday
Big day. Friend Christmas Party was cancelled because of all that happened, so I hung out with mom and Megan. We went to Yarn & Stitches in North Dallas. It felt like we were crashing someone’s party - we were there a few minutes before anybody even decided to look up and ask if we needed any help. We walked around a little while and then left. On the way to the Woolie Ewe, my sister said she didn’t like going to yarn stores cuz everything she wants to make needs to be knitted & she hates knitting. Well, Jill got ahold of her, and she’s officially a knitter. After that, we went to Michael’s so I could spend my birthday (yes, from October) gift card. I got Knitting On the Edge by Nicky Epstein (much better, in my opinion, than Knitting OVER the Edge), a couple balls of Sugar & Cream cotton & a yarn cutter (canNOT find mine!). After Michael’s, mom HAD to have another set of Addi Turbo Needles, so we went back to the Ewe. I didn’t get anything the first time, and I couldn’t go back TWICE and not get anything, so I bought some yarn like Megan’s to make a semi-matching belt someday after I finish Christmas knitting. She got pink & purple, and I bought purple & black. Then we went back to the house & watched Poltergeist and Nothing to Lose (it’s our family movie, despite the fact that it’s not really… family-friendly, what with the language and all. lol).

Anyway.. so that’s been my last few days.
I go back to work tomorrow, work through Friday, am off Monday for the holiday, work Tues-Friday at about 3:30-4pm, then I’m off to California until the 8th of January. :) I can’t wait. I SO need the vacation.

You Are a Chocolate Martini

You’re an elegant drunk, who only likes the best bars and the most expensive drinks.
A bit of a cheapskate, you’re likely to mooch ten dollar drinks off both friends and strangers.
You should never: Drink and dash. You’re gonna get caught leaving someone with the tab!

Your ideal party: A posh celebrity party you crash, with an open bar.

Your drinking soulmates: those with a Classic Martini personality

Your drinking rivals: those with a Blueberry Martini personality

ok, i’ve never HAD a martini, but the next time i go to bennigan’s, i’m SOO getting a chocolate one. it looks so good & i never get it!!

So, the DMV screwed up the address on my permit. I renewed my ID and got the permit. Since I already got the paper permit that lasts a little while, I get to get a picture one now. I don’t care so much about the picture as I care about actually getting it. I guess I can hold onto the paper one, but damn. Like, they completely jacked the address all up. I didn’t notice it until it was too late, and I spent the day yesterday calling but receiving busy signals, and I finally got through to someone today, and she said I have to go in because they don’t know I’m me.

Why the hell would I want someone else’s thing? I mean, I get it. Sort of. But it’s not MY fault they screwed up. *I* am not missing half a day of work to go get them to type “Jupiter” instead of “Hyouter”. I tried calling the main number but have been on hold for 20 minutes (10 min each time). I don’t have time to sit on hold.

Bastards.
