This is the coolest video ever.

Aug 29

So, I’m sitting here, listening to some Miser songs in iTunes (after listening to some knitting podcasts. me? nerd? ha.), and I’m listening to the new version of Promises (previously recorded by Supercell, which is basically this band with a different singer). I have to say that the one thing I love the most about Coach’s singing is the fact that you can clearly understand him. I just LOVE his voice too… it’s unique. :)

To say that I’m not excited about the show on the 23rd would be a complete lie. I’m as excited for this show as I was to go see my boy, Damian.  Well, maybe not AS much, since seeing Damian has the whole “he’s my friend” aspect of it, but very close, since Dollybraid was the band that started it all for my little group. :)  It’s really awesome that even after life decided to step in for these last 3-4 years that I can sort of pick up where I left off and start doing something that I enjoy again. Yeah, some things have changed: the bands are different; I have a new show-going partner in my sister who is now old enough to appreciate it and go; my other partner in crime has the ability to leave her daughter with someone if she wants to and can come out to play, too, but the same basic principle is there. The same things that I loved about it a few years ago are still in place, and that makes me truly happy.

It’s fun, and I can’t WAIT. September will not go fast enough. *lol* :) I’m glad I get to give the cameras a work out, too. These ones haven’t been exposed to shows very often, so I need to “learn” how they work in that environment, so I can start having some spiffy pics again. :) Pics of things OTHER than yarn. *grin*

“Tapping the man-keg” is going to be the funniest thing I read today. Maybe all week.

Naptime?

I would give my left arm to go home, curl up in bed or on the couch, and take a nap right now.

I just went “real” grocery shopping. Not “Oh, I need Soda/Something for Lunch or Dinner/Man, I really want some chocolate” shopping… Real “Groceries for the week” shopping.

Since I’m starting that Self Reach Your Goal thing, I decided that I’d take a page out of their meal plan “book”, and I bought groceries to go along with the things I intend to make from their lists. The only thing that will be different is lunch. Lunch will be left-overs or a Lean Cuisine or sandwich and a salad or something like that, because none of their lunches sound appetizing, and they sound like too much work. Lunch should be easy. I should not have to spend all the night before trying to throw together a big lunch, so all my focus, as far as cooking goes, will be on breakfast and dinner.

THeir exercise plan, at least for those of us starting out, is pretty easy. 20 minutes of aerobic whatever…walking around the block or just something to get you used to being active again, when you’re used to sitting on your tush knitting, like me. ;) so i’m going to explore my neighborhood. I haven’t decided if I’ll be doing this in the morning or if I’ll be doing this after work…. probably the walk stuff after work. I can take care of the strength training stuff in the morning, I think. I’m planning on starting to wake up a little earlier, since I’ll need to start worrying about breakfast and all that now, too.

I’m really excited. I plan to stick with it, this time. :D My downfall will be when Joe’s here, I think. We always end up going out. ahha :)

I love my blog now, so that means I’m going to post more. The quality of posts may not be that great, but I’m posting, dammit.

I notice when I’m tired of looking at my site, I don’t want to post to it… so I don’t. Then I put up a new layout or something, and I”m all over it again. I’ve been spending the day fixing up my knitting blog… I had more stuff over there to put back, and I’m really in love with it now. It’s pink and pretty.

I’m so tired.. I should go to sleep. I did a little cleaning, but nowhere near what I need to get done. My computer desk area is less cluttered, so I guess that’s pretty good. :)

I’m probably going to go hit the hay now… if I go to sleep now, I can wake up earlier and maybe actually do something about this apt tomorrow today. I also need to go grocery shopping, and I almost changed out of my pjs into “leave the apartment” clothes a couple of hours ago, but why ruin the streaK? :) Why get out of my pjs after I’d been in ‘em all day anyway. *lol* :) Hmm.. I’ll post a to-do list, so maybe I’ll actually get stuff done tomorrow.

TO DO LIST FOR SUNDAY, AUGUST 27, 2006

  • Write up shopping list
  • Go grocery shopping
  • Gather up laundry
  • Do laundry
  • Finish cleaning apt. (almost done!)
  • Write up Knitting to-do list
  • Watch Lost Souls
  • Get trash ready to take out Monday morning.

Holy crap on a stick. I just found out that 3 of the guys (Mark, Moonshine, Coach) from 2 different bands (Dollybraid, 40%) that I used to see ALL THE TIME are now in a new band all together. They’re called Miser, and I can’t believe I haven’t heard of them until tonight.

They’re playing a show on the 1st, but that’s all the way up in Denton, and I have stuff to do that day. They’re also playing at a show at a place that’s literally 5 minutes away from where I live. I’ve seen it, but I’ve never been there. I didn’t know they had actual bands there. *haha* :) So I’m making plans to go to that… Joe in tow or not.  Maybe I can grab Megan, too. She can crash on the futon or something. *lol* :)

Anyway… as you can also see, I’ve done a little um.. redecorating.  I upgraded to the newest version of Wordpress (went from version 1.5.2 to 2.0.4), and I decided to give my blog a new look, thanks to the Wordpress Themes directory.  I also redecorated my knitting blog.

Ramblings

This weekend is Clean the Apartment Weekend.
Does anybody want to take a guess as to how much cleaning has happened today?

Yeah, nothing.

I have good intentions… everytime I get my big butt off the couch to go to the bathroom or get something to drink or whatever, I think “man, I really need to get started.” It’s not that bad, it’s just something that needs to be done. This apt is “clean” and I want to keep it as clean as possible. :) It’s easeir to keep a place clean if I don’t let it go. :)

I’ve been listening and catching up on the podcasts I haven’t had a chance to listen to. I’ve been knitting on a sock that I really want to finish by the end of the month, and a design-contest entry that I need to finish by the end of the month, so I’m sort of speed knitting. I’d rather watch movies, but I’ve watched my TV shows, and all I have left is an hour and a half movie. I’ll probably watch that tonight while I’m knitting away, and clean tomorrow.

I was going to do laundry, but I’ve left a load in the washer all week that I forgot about. Oops. So I’m rewashing them, and I’ll dry them, and do the next load.

I also need to go grocery shopping, but I need to put together a shopping list. I’ve joined Self’s Reach Your Goal project thing, and I start that on Monday, so I need to figure out what I’m going to do. I printed out their shopping list and menu options, and I’ll throw something together from there.

Dina’s in Colorado now. We got together last Wednesday to eat and be able to talk without having to scream and yell over loud music and terrible singing.

It was a bittersweet affair… we were all happy to be together, but everyone was pretty sad, too. Gabby found a new future-husband out of the whole thing, so I guess she lucked out. ahahah :) I’ve been named Social Chairman, so now I get to somehow plan all of our lovely get-togethers….. so we probably won’t see each other until um… Katy’s birthday. ;) *grin* Nah, the good news is we do have birthdays coming up, so we will be getting together for those, at least.

Okay… enough rambling. My load in the washer is done, so I’m going to throw it in the dryer before I forget again… maybe I’ll turn on some music, get off my butt, and start some of this cleaning I keep talking about. :D

*smooches*

Pictures from Dina’s going away party are now available on my Flickr.
And if I never post again after this, it’s because she killed me for posting that picture. ;)

Wow, yall..

I write one password-protected entry, and everyone comes out of the woodwork. I’m not hiding it from any of my “regulars” and if you want the PW, just email me and ask for it. I just don’t want it out in the open so people can just happen upon it, that’s all. :) There is some “harsh” language in it, though, so if you’re not interested in reading it, don’t bother… because if you get offended, well, I warned ya, and that’s on you now. :P

Well, last night, other than the bitchfest in the protected post, was pretty good, considering.
Teresa, Alex and I met up at Dina’s before going straight to the bar, and I got to play chauffer… and can I tell you it’s weird with ME as the driver, Teresa up front, and the two people who would usually drive, cramped in my tiny backseat? *lol* Total role reversal.. *lol* :)

Anyway, we made it there kind of early. In the interest of getting everyone home safely after the party, I had my one drink while I ate a plate of nachos. I figured if I’m drinking it with food 4-5 hrs before I’ll be driving again, it pretty much doesn’t count. Stacy, Karen, Melanie and Jon (I THINK he spells his name w/o the h… if I’m wrong, lemme know. lol) showed up next (out of the group of people I know). Then Dennis and his bf. Can I just say that I think I have a crush on Dennis’ bf? *lol* :) Okay, not really, but he’s so cute. And I think he was an instant hit among the group. He was part of the group without trying too hard, and did I mention he’s cute? He actually looks like a dark-haired Nolan. Not like twins - but like they could be family or something. Like, cousins. Or a cousin’s cousin. Or something. They probably aren’t, but whatever. He’s cool.

So yeah… it was pretty fun. We’re getting together for dinner on Wednesday…I’m giving everyone til Monday to get their opinions in before I say “Be here at this time … or you suck.” (as I told Dina… hehe) Dina ended up riding home w/ STacy and Erik since she was on their way home, so I dropped Teresa and Alex home (haha… we were stalking Dennis and Jared (and I may have spelled his name wrong, but I’ll fix it if I know it’s spelled differently), because they were pretty much going the same way we were.), and then I went home.

I got online, wrote my bitchy post, and pretty much went to bed. I’ve had a headache on and off all day today (not related to my one drink, thankyouverymuch), but that didn’t stop me from going yarn shopping. I wanted to check out one of the other stores in the area, and I had some extra cash, so I went over there. I walked in and wasn’t overwhelmed until I started looking around. I ended up not getting anything there, but still needing a yarn fix, I went to my normal yarn store. I bought some sock yarn (which I definitely need like I need a hole in the head) and a pattern and came home to online-purchase the more expensive stuff. The store I planned to buy from online gives discounts if you buy lots of yarn. 25% off is 25% off, y’know? So I got that.. and checked to see if they had the other yarn that I wanted… they did, but not in the color I wanted, so I called up Woolie Ewe (yes. I called… not emailed. I picked up the phone and actually talked to someone, can you believe it?!?) and asked if they had the yarn/color/quantity I needed. She did, so I went to pick it up. I also found the other yarn I needed for the other sweater I’m making, so I got that.

I won’t need yarn for a while. I’m not purchasing yarn for any reason until my birthday, and maybe not even then, that’s how much I need more yarn. But I don’t expect anybody else to spend the kind of money on yarn that I do, so I’ll probably take myself yarn shopping for my birthday.. maybe. We’ll see how much of this I can knit up first.

Anyway.. my headache’s back, so I’m going to make some dinner and get something to drink… I probably just need some water or something, and I’m going to sit back with some CSI and my sock-in-progress and chill out for the rest of the night. :)
