I came home to an empty apartment yesterday after work because Joe had to go do some stuff at work last night. On my way home, I have to change highways to get to our apartment. When I go over the overpass, I get a great view of the hills behind us, and it’s just so beautiful.
Well, last night, I decided to go to JoAnn’s and to Michael’s, since I had the time to myself. I left about 8pm or so, and went out and about and the sun was setting behind the hills and the fog was rolling in, and it seriously sucked the air right out of me. If I could have just sat there and watched the sun set, I would have. Unfortunately, I was in a left-turn lane, and the light turned green, so I had to go. LOL Once I turned, the sun was in that awkward position where the visors and sunglasses don’t help, and it wasn’t beautiful anymore. eheh
Another thing that I love about Cali is the fact that it’s cool in the morning, and while it can get hot during the day, it doesn’t usually, and if it does, it’s always cool by the time I get off work. It’s so awesome. LOL
a) I get to sleep in on Mondays.
b) I work until 8, but the last 2.5 hrs of my shift don’t count, because I’m not really working. Just putting all the food away after the meetings start and restocking the fridge. I get to read. Or knit. Or do whatever I want!
I don’t really have much else to report. I have like, no energy or desire to do anything once I get off work, and I’m really boring. I knit and watch Joe play the Wii, or we watch tv or something.
I got my new camera, but we haven’t gone anywhere or done anything since, and I keep forgetting to take it with me to work. LOL I might have to take a training course thingy on Thursday, but other than that, it’s no big deal.
My first payday is 7/6, and while I know that’s next week, it seems like FOR. EVER. away.

I would just like to say that it’s cleaner than this now.
I started my new job today. I’m glad I started today and not tomorrow. BigWigs are going to be in the office tomorrow and the next day, and it’s supposed to be INSANE. yay, great, looking forward to it! :/
My unofficial titles seem to be Phone Answerer, Fridge-Stocker, and Mail Sorter/Distributor.
It’s really funny, because it seems that you are really sort of CHAINED TO THE DESK… but if mail or faxes come in, I have to drop everything to get them stamped and sorted and into everyone’s mailboxes… in the other room. Every couple of hours, I need to check the fridge and load up on water and sodas. These people drink water and sodas like there is no tomorrow! seriously, I went to lunch having stocked up on everything…and I came back, and we were down half the water & out of regular Cokes. lol
Overall, the few people I met today seemed nice, and I look forward to getting settled in … to my desk and as part of the team.
Just let me survive the next couple of days. They usually super dress up when BigWigs are in town, and I don’t have any super-dress-up work clothes. Super-dress-up meant business casual instead of casual towards the end of my time at the old office. I’m glad to see that this office considers corduroys business casual, because one of the girls in the office was wearing some. eheh
Anyway.. the area where the office is is really cute, and my desk is pretty cool. i can’t wait until it’s MINE and not mine + the temp’s. lol
I can’t wait until the weekend though. This working thing is tiring.
So, I’ve been like, not around… at least as far as the blog is concerned. LOL Joe’s off on Fridays, so Fridays are kinda like..extra weekends.
Friday, we went to the Afghan restaurant (it’s really tasty!! eheh) for lunch. Since I got the job, the deal was that Joe was going to get me my new camera, so we decided to check out Wolf Camera after lunch to compare prices. They didn’t have it, so we left. I went into the yarn store in the shopping center there to get yarn for a project Pie asked me to do for her, and then we went to Office Max. We found the camera I wanted on the website for a really good deal, so we decided to go to the store to get it. Well, apparently if it’s on their site, it’s probably not in the store, so we came home. Talk about being bummed. Well, we ended up finding it on Circuit City’s website and did the in-store pick up thing, and then we went to pick it up! Happy Manda.
Saturday, we ended up going to see Surf’s Up, and it was really cute. We also went to the soul-sucker that is the Walmart across the street. I’m serious… that store really sucks the life out of you. I’ve never had it happen at any other location, but this one?? When we enter, we’re in a great mood!! Two minutes into the store, and we are just completely demoralized. It’s depressing, really.
Sunday, we didn’t do much of anything. I couldn’t find my phone all day, and when I did, it was like, 10:30 here, and the phone was dead, so I couldn’t call anybody all day. HAPPY (belated) FATHER’S DAY!! We ended up going to SoulSucker-Mart again to get something, and I begged him not to. LOL It was so busy in there that it would’ve been faster to drive halfway across town, go to Target, and come home. I think we might do that from now on… which is sad.
I’ve taken a few pics w/ my new camera (Canon Powershot A630), but a lot of them are stupid “eek! I have a new camera! let’s take pics of any and everything!” shots. I saved a few of them, though, for your viewing pleasure.
I also start my job tomorrow. EEK! I’m so excited!! I also get to spend part of my day at the DMV to get my CA driver’s license. THey requested my birth certificate (it’s one of the listed requirements), so I had to order it & it arrived Saturday. I figure I’ll run out in a bit and get some food & sit at the DMV. Then I’m going to go to the mall and go to Macy’s to get a toaster (talk about exciting… we have a gift card, and it looks like they have a few on sale) & maybe a new job outfit. LOL I live an exciting life. LOL We rearranged a bit this weekend, too, and need to finish clearing up some of the crap that’s just laying around, but I’ll have more pics of the apt later. If you want to see pics of the apt, they’re in my flickr, for now. I haven’t had time to post ‘em.
Thanks to GameStop’s “Buy 2 get one free” deal on their used games and a few gift certificates, we’re amassing quite a collection of Wii games. lol.
Update on the job stuff… I got an email to complete a background check w/ my old company, and I got an update on the other place yesterday. They wanted to have a decision made by yesterday, but they didn’t. I was told I’m one of the top candidates, though, but if I do get another offer to let her know. This has kind of frustrated and disappointed me, but I should hear by next week, I guess.
I’ve promised pics of the new apt, and I have them on the camera, but I need to find the cord. I THINK I know where it is, but that requires getting off my butt to check it out, and… well, I just don’t feel like it right this second, so I”ll get it later.
I miss everyone, and I’m starting to get bored and frustrated about sitting at home all day, but.. it’s not so bad. I just wish I had a job already.
So… when are you guys going to come visit me already??
