Today has been all about my favorite band.

Everytime I got in the car and turned on the radio, or turned on my ipod, or turn on the shuffle in itunes, I’ve gotten to hear at least one Green Day song - sometimes more than one! At lunch time, I was listening to the radio, and someone texted the DJ saying that they saw ♥ Billie Joe ♥ at a Long’s Drugs (it’s like Eckerd, or CVS, or Walgreen’s or whatever.. only in Cali. lol). I think I would fall over and DIE if I ever ran into Billie Joe … well, anywhere. Imagine myself being all calm, cool, and collected, and either a) leaving him alone or b) going up to him and saying “I have been in love with your band since I was 13. You rule.” but really? I’d probably stand there, pointing, with my jaw on the floor. Or I’d become brave, given the once-in-a-lifetime circumstances and be all like OMGILOVEYOU IWISHYOUHAPPYBIRTHDAYONYOURBIRTHDAYEVENTHOUGHI’VENEVERMETYOU!!”

Yeah, I am so cool.

Okay, I don’t really … agree with this… but I thought it would be funny since some of my pals like karaoke. :)

Your Karaoke Theme Song is “Margaritaville”

You are a true party animal, but your style is mild and chill.
Kicking back with a few friends and a few drinks is all you need to be happy.

You certainly don’t feel pressured to be a part of any party scene. In fact, you avoid trendier spots.
You’ve been known to kick loose anywhere and everywhere. All you need is a cooler.

You might also sing: “Gin and Juice,” “Love Shack,” and “Red Red Wine”

Stay away from people who sing: “Wind Beneath My Wings”

I have a problem.

Thursday night is a big tv night as far as I’m concerned. Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, CSI.
Back when I lived by myself and didn’t have to worry about another person, I recorded Grey’s while I watched CSI, and I had no conflicts with Ugly Betty.

WHAT DO I DO?

I don’t think I can record one and watch the other. CSI was on On Demand the next day or whatever, last season, but I don’t know if it will be the same this season. Alternatively, you could watch Grey’s Anatomy online the next day or on tv the next night last season.

WHAT DO I DO?
I have seven seasons invested in CSI (albeit the first five seasons were watched in a few weeks on DVD.. lol), but … dude! it’s Grey’s!

I repeat - what do I do? :(

Dude, look at me being all posty-post. Fair warning, this will probably be the last post until my birthday. ;) hehehe

I found a link to this “readalong” from my friend Elizabeth. She’s a good knitting buddy friend of mine from DFW. Reading was my Hobby Numero Uno until I started knitting, and with having a job where I have NOTHING. TO. DO, I’ve found myself with a lot of reading time. I think since I’ve started working there, I’ve read about 10 books. Give or take a couple. In fact, in the last week alone, I finished 2 James Patterson books. TWO, people. TWO BOOKS in SEVEN DAYS. I haven’t read that quickly in… I don’t know how long. Anyway, if I read hard cover books that will keep themselves open, I find that I can knit and read at the same time, and it’s been the best thing ever. I’ve gotten a lot of books over the last few weeks, so I’m going to try to knock some out over the fall season.

My fall reading goals are:
1) Finish Danse Macabre. I really, really, really, really, REALLY am tired of LKH’s books being nothing but one big orgy, but I keep reading in hopes that she will bring back the STORY part of her books. I only have maybe 200 pages (probably less) to go in this one, so hopefully I’ll be able to do this.

2) Finish Honeymoon. I read You’ve Been Warned last week, and I picked up The Quickie (an aptly named book because I finished it in no time!) and Honeymoon. The Quickie is finished, and now I’m onto Honeymoon.

(One thing about James Patterson’s books. I LOVE the way he writes. I love that his chapters are maybe three pages long. It makes it so much easier to get through them, because I’m always just like “ohh, one more chapter.” “wait, just one more.” and the next thing you know, the book is finished! lol)

3) Peony in Love“>Peony in Love by Lisa See. I really loved Snow Flower & The Secret Fan, and I’m hoping this one grabs me like that one did.

4) Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen.

5) A Woman of No Importance by Oscar Wilde, as previously posted about… thanks to DailyLit. It’s due to come to me in 29 parts, so it’ll take about a month or so.

This doesn’t count, but I also have some audiobooks I’d like to get through.

Size 14 is Not Fat Either by Meg Cabot
Humble Pie by Gordon Ramsay (LOVE! him!)
Heartsick by Chelsea Cain

I also very highly recommend the book Garden SpellsGarden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen. I can’t remember if I blogged about this book or not, but it was just an enchanting story. It was a story of family, and of love, and I just could NOT put it down. Normally I end up giving my books away or taking them to Half Price Books or some similar shop, but this one? This one is a Keeper. I even emailed the author to tell her that I loved her book, and she replied back with a very sweet note. How awesome is that? Her second book is due out in 2008, and I can’t WAIT!

Check out Fall into Reading 2007, and post your Fall reading goals! Leave me a comment if you decide to participate. :D

Happy reading!

Oh, one more thing.

HOW DID I GET SUCKED INTO THE BACHELOR?
Oh yeah, because I was watching Dancing with the Stars.

Boston Legal premiers tomorrow and I. CAN’T. WAIT! :)

If they say “It’s the HOTTEST BACHELOR EVER” one more time, I’m going to KILL someone. Why, oh why, did I not send back my Netflix sooner?

Btw - Weeds? I love that show. I can’t relate as far as the whole “pot” thing is concerned, but I think it’s kind of hilarious. And Life Is Beautiful is a wonderful movie. I can’t believe it’s taken so long for me to watch it.

So.
Joe went on a work trip, and I’m left to entertain myself. Good thing that I’m used to that. lol. :) I have to say that it’s a bit of an adjustment being “alone” again, but I’m sure we could use a couple of days apart. LOL :)

necklace

Here is a picture of what my mom’s birthday present SORT of looks like. The flower in my mom’s necklace is a “regular” blue sapphire, and not this light pink one, but the website didn’t have a picture of it anymore. It’s really pretty, and she really liked it. It left her speechless. ;)

I just wanted to get her something really nice, though, since I wasn’t there. :)

DailyLit - okay, I just found this link somewhere, and I can’t remember where it was now. Bad blogger, no cookie!

Anyway - basically, it’s a website, and you can search for books. It seems to be the old classics that are now public domain, but if there’s anything that you’ve been “meaning” to read and haven’t yet, you can subscribe to each book, and it’s emailed to you daily in parts. You can also subscribe via RSS feed (if you use something like Bloglines or something like that). I decided to subscribe via email to A Woman of No Importance, by Oscar Wilde. I’m going to sub to Alice in Wonderland next. :D

I think that’s it for now.

Is it November yet?? :D

Today’s my mom’s birthday - Happy Birthday!!!!!!!
I got her a spiffy… well, I think it’s spiffy… present, but since I don’t think that they’ve done presents yet, and she does occassionally read the blog, I won’t talk about it here. I”ll let you know what it is when today is over. :D

Anyway, it’s come to my attention that I haven’t blogged in a million years. I have to say that I have PRIMO blogging time while I’m at work… except that I can’t. They’re serious about the blockity-block at work, and Flickr’s blocked now. lol. Not that that means I can’t blog, but I don’t want to tempt fate. :) So anyway… while I might think of a million things to say, I can’t do it until I get home. And when I get home, I’m tired and bleh, and I don’t even like to look at the computer, even though it’s on and I’m checking email and keeping AIM open for possible chatting opportunities. LOL :)

A couple of major things, though, are in the works, or happening:
1) I AM GOING HOME FOR THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!!!! Woohoo!! We got the tickets, and booked the hotel room & the rental car, and we’re coming!!!! :) We get in Sunday night and leave Friday afternoon, so I’ll be there for a good chunk of time. I want to get together w/ my peeps for dinner on Sunday night… Tuesday is Knitter Day. I know I’m for sure going to the Starbucks meetup, but I’m hoping to sneak in a bit of yarn shopping at my old haunts, too. We’re hopefully planning a trip to the Arboretum in there, too, but I have to be honest that it’s more like a running joke than anything. I hope we get to go, because I think it’d be fun, but… if we base it on our previous attempts, it probably won’t happen. LOL :) Lots of fambly time, and then the big Gourge Fest. :) lol I wish I could have come in earlier and leave later, since I’m missing a bunch of cool things on Saturday, but it was like, $250 more (per person) just for the FLIGHT. So… we did what we had to do.

2) Joe is going on his first business trip since I got here! I get the whole place to myself for a few days, and I can’t decide if I’m happy or sad about it. LOL :) THe good news is he’s leaving during Fall TV premier week, so I get free reign of the tv. *g* :)

That’s about it on my end. Here’s hopinig that I get some actual work to do today. Or that I get to knit. Bleh.

… because I’m bored & don’t have anything else to post.

You’re Watership Down!
by Richard Adams
Though many think of you as a bit young, even childish, you’re
actually incredibly deep and complex. You show people the need to rethink their
assumptions, and confront them on everything from how they think to where they
build their houses. You might be one of the greatest people of all time. You’d
be recognized as such if you weren’t always talking about talking rabbits.

You’re Minnesota!
You love hanging out around lakes, even if they’re frozen solid. Given
your probable Scandanavian heritage, it all just demonstrates that you’re pining for the
fjords. Your obsession with wrestling got a little carried away for a while there, and
this should prompt some serious reflection about the separation of mind and body. It may
be time to celebrate, even throw your hat up in the air. You’re going to make it after
all.

You’re an Iguana!
While many people think you’re too strange to even have in the house,
others have come to appreciate you as a sage figure in their everyday lives. You seem
to maintain a piercing stare that bores holes into the souls of others, or at least
sees if there are any bugs flying near them. You’re more than a little rough around
the edges. You used to love giving the thumbs-up sign but have more recently grown
out of it entirely.

You’re Columbia University!
Somewhat rough and tumble, you’re looking for the lion’s
share of whatever you can get your hands on. You feel utterly surrounded
by chaos and noise, but at the same time have access to a good deal of
culture and influence. In this chaotic setting, you attempt to be a
bastion of relative calm. You adore staircases and once expressed a
desire to paint your roof green.
