I survived my first earthquake!!

We didn’t get hit very hard up here, but it sort of felt like the building decided to get up and walk around.. and it had a little too much to drink. LOL :) So far, it doesn’t sound like anybody was hurt.. just a few messes at some stores near San Jose, which is closer to the epicenter. I’m just glad it didn’t happen while I was at the mall. I was safe and sound at home with Joe. :D No power failure, nothing falling out of cabinets, nothing… really. Except the interruption of Bones a couple of times. lol :)

I’m also currently transferring 133 pictures from my camera to my computer, so I will probably have pics uploaded to Flickr shortly.

Yesterday was awesome.
We’re back from out of town and just a bit exhausted. I’m getting ready for work, and Joe is snoozing on the couch. That lucky bum is taking the week off.

I took tons of pics. Well, tons for me, lately. Not “tons” on the TC Scale of Picture Taking. ;) I’ll get them uploaded tonight or tomorrow. The trip ended with seeing a rainbow for about the last 15-20 minutes of our drive, so I consider that a trip well done. Too bad I need a vacation from my vacation. ;)

Apparently I should be getting birthday presents and other such stuff today at work from friends and family, so I may even have actual present things to show.

Thanks to everyone who called and wished me a happy birthday - sorry if I didn’t get it! We had little to no cell phone signal depending on where we were this weekend.

Off to finish getting ready for work. TGIM - Mondays are useless as far as I’m concerned anyway. More later!

… almost gone! :)

We’re leaving in a few hrs, but we’re going out to Carmel and to Hearst Castle. It should be fun. :D

Happy [day before my] Birthday to ME!! :D

In my absence, I leave you with some links about my birthday:

Annnnd… that’s it from me. :) Have a good weekend! :)

Technically it’s not the 23rd here, but it is where the birthday people are, so I can post this….

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRANDPA!!!!!!!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JESSABELLE!!!

PS: No, the fires are not near me. They are in Southern California, and I’m in Northern California. Apparently the fires are about 400-500ish miles away, so I’m okay. Thoughts and prayers to everyone down there, though.

Philly, are you at school?? Are you okay?? :)

Oct 21
  • Woke up.
  • Did nothing until approximately 11am when I hopped in the shower.
  • Got dressed.
  • Looked up and printed directions.
  • Drove to Half Price Books to sell some books.
  • Was pleasantly surprised to find it next to a brand new JoAnn’s Superstore (instead of the rinkydink crappy JoAnn’s I have near me.)
  • Sold the books.
  • Got new books.
  • Went to JoAnn’s.
  • Found self-striping dishcloth cotton, the newest Interweave Knits magazine, and some gifties for swap pals.
  • Drove to Nine Rubies (yarn store)
  • Bought some Souvenir yarn and yarn for a Christmas Present
  • Walked to Starbucks & ordered a Pumpkin Spice Blended Creme Frap.
  • Walked back to the car and drove home.
  • Hung out at home for a few hrs, knitting & watching shows on abc.com
  • Got pissed off when I found out Women’s Murder Club wasn’t available to watch online.
  • Went to Target to get two birthday cards, some candy, and laundry detergent.
  • And tissue paper. But they were out. Of like every color except white.
  • Went to the Grocery store.
  • Bought dinner and dessert (Drumsticks, yum).
  • Forgot the damn tissue paper.
  • Came home.
  • Made frozen pizza & sat down to watch tv.
  • TV sucks.
  • Knit & watched more shows on abc.com
  • Typed up this stupid boring list because I’m bored but not tired enough to sleep yet.

I am so boring. The good news is I’m all caught up on Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, and I saw the pilot episode of Samantha Who? I’m STILL pissed off that Women’s Murder Club is not online. ESPECIALLY since the web page has a link to “Watch this online!” and links directly to their stupid player.

In other news, I found local knitters, and I’m getting together with some people on Thursday. I need to figure out how to work the vcr/dvd recorder thing.

WTF?!?!

LOL. I was watching TV, and a commercial for some pregnancy test came on… and the above title is the tagline.

“The most sophisticated technology you will ever pee on.”

Excuse me while I just go over here.. heh… and attempt to stop laughing.

Happy Birthday, Christopher!

[I realized while I was aimlessly driving around earlier today that I forgot to post this earlier!! Oops!]

Oh. My. GOD!

I hate mornings. The people upstairs feel the need to blast their radio and I can HEAR IT! down HERE!

I suppose it’s not too bad - they usually listen to good music (now playing: Hey There, Delilah by Plain White T’s). I know it could be worse - like, it could be the damn music my neighbors played when I lived at the old-old apartments. I was spoiled at my last apartments though. It was quiet except when people played tennis outside. LOL :)

Joe’s going to Houston for work this week, and I think I’m off to tour yarn stores. :)

… 8 days until my birthday!! eek!! …

Oct 15

Since our apartment was basically just a place for us to sleep this weekend, we headed back to San Fransisco via the lovely BART. I have to say that I love living at the end of the line, at least on the WAY to SF. On the way home is a completely different story. LOL

We took BART to the Embarcadero Station and got off to catch Muni to go…somewhere. lol. We ended up getting off a couple of blocks from the Haight-Ashbury district, and we walked around there. Definitely an experience, and I found a ton of shops that I think TC might like. Lots of vintage shops and things. :) It was pretty cool.

After that, we met up with Joe’s sister, and we walked around Haight-Ashbury again, then she took us to the beach. We went up by some cliffs and stuff, and we walked down about a million stairs. We walked through the cave to the end, and I took some pictures of waves crashing on the rocks. One brave couple somehow made it out TO the rocks, even though there was a barrier.

After that, we ended up going to Ocean Beach to watch some surfers. They were a little disappointing as surfers go. Lots of waves, but they either didn’t catch them or they were nowhere near them. lol. One guy almost made it all the way back to shore, but he lost it. It was pretty cool, though.

Catherine took us to a cute, but crowded coffee shop called Java Beach, and we each got a drink, then she took us back to the Embarcadero Station, and we came home. Crowded BART train, until we got to the Coliseum stop where it emptied out quite a bit… still standing room, but you had room to breathe.

The worst part of the day was climbing up those freaking sand/wood steps again. I’ve never felt so out of shape in my entire life.

Overall, it was an awesome day. :) I’m glad we did it. :D To see more pics, check out the flickr set.

A Fun, Unplanned Day

So, I woke up early this morning. Joe did, too, actually, but he ended up going to bed. I got bored around 11am and decided to get off my butt. I took a few books to the bookstore near my work because I had to go get my iPod, because I left the stupid thing there yesterday. They bought two books for $2.10. How crappy is that? I was offended enough to actually decline the offer, but I’m really trying to just get rid of the damn things. I read them and get rid of them. Honestly, there’s almost no reason for me to even BUY books except that I like getting them right when they come out, and I like to be able to read them at my leisure, instead of worrying about returning them to the library. There’s nothing better than a new book. Except maybe new yarn. ;)

I really should just go to the library, but … well, I don’t. I’ve been spoiled by Dallas and having a zillion Half Price Books locations within just a few miles. There is one here, but I think the closest one is Oakland, and I’m just not brave enough to go that far yet. Maybe I’ll venture out there while Joe’s gone next weekend. Scratch that..there is one semi-close in Concord, and the one I thought was in Oakland is actually in Berkeley. It looks like it’s fairly easy to get to, too, so maybe I’ll load up the books and take them there. It’s not really about the money - it’s just about the getting rid of them.

Anyway.. after that whole thing, I came back to find Joe awake. We hung out for a bit before we went to Nations, our favorite burger and pie place, for lunch. Then we headed out to Santa Rosa so he could get his hair cut. Unfortunately, the barber was closed when we got there, so he ended up stopping at a nearby Great Clips. I walked around a thoroughly crowded Ross, and found a cute top that I ended up putting back because a) I didn’t feel like trying to fight for a dressing room and b) I didn’t feel like standing in line to pay for it. I walked out of the store and waited another 5 or so minutes for Joe and then we drove to Mary’s Pizza Shack for dinner. While we were eating dinner, we started making plans for tomorrow. This turned into plans for our drive home, and we ended up detouring through San Francisco, stopping at Sausalito (well, I don’t know what it’s called, but it’s the vantage point where a lot of pictures of SF are taken, as well as commercials and shows and stuff). It was pretty spiffy, but it was too dark to take any pictures. That, and I didn’t have my camera, since I didn’t think it was necessary to eat lunch. lol :) I took a couple cameraphone pictures, but they’re really crappy. Next time, I’ll bring my camera.

After that, we drove over the Golden Gate Bridge, which we’d never done before (we walked across it, but didn’t drive). We drove down by the Marina and through SF and then we crossed the Bay Bridge, and then we drove home.

Tomorrow, we’re taking BART back down to the City, and I don’t know what we’re going to do, but I’ll be armed with my camera. :D
