1. What was I doing ten years ago?
Starting the summer before my senior year. I believe it involved a lot of web-designing, blogging, and MUD-playing. I was also working at Winn Dixie as a grocery bagger.

2. What are five (non-work) things on my to-do list for today:
Well, today is done, so I’ll do tomorrow’s list…
a) Make Dinner (either bbq pork chops or chicken parmesean)
b) Finish Sheldon #1
c) Take pictures of Sheldon #1
d) Mail my Netflix movies. I can’t believe I forgot all freaking week.
e) Find out if I can go to the spinning thing on Saturday.

3. Snacks I enjoy:
Pretzels with Cream Cheese, chips & salsa/queso, chocolate.

4. Things I would do if I were a billionaire:
Donate to everyone on my team’s 3-day fundraising (so we all will be able to walk & not worry about it), get married, buy a house w/ at least one room just for yarn, buy more yarn, go to Europe, open up a yarn store, start college/trust funds for all of my friends’ kids, give to charity, travel

5. Places I have lived:
Neenah, WI… Menasha, WI… Garland, TX… Dallas, TX… Bay Area, CA :)

6. Jobs I have had:
Grocery bagger, grocery cashier, Front End Manager, Photo Lab Tech, Receptionist, Sales Assistant, Receptionist… :)

7. Peeps I want to know more about:
You, if you want to play along :)

Okay, so I didn’t watch American Idol religiously this season… sometimes we’d happen to catch it while waiting for Hell’s Kitchen to come on, and sometimes, when we didn’t have Netflix, we’d watch it on Wednesday nights, but I wasn’t really attached to anybody. I liked Jason Castro, and I liked David Cook.

WOOHoO!! Congrats to David Cook, the new American Idol!!! :) I hope he’s insanely famous and comes out with an awesome cd, because I think I’d like a cd he did better than any of the other contestants. :) I also like how he made all of his fellow contestants come hang out with him while he sang. :)

Way to go, David C!! :)

Ummm, I had something else to say but I forgot what it was.

So, the last few days have been very busy, hobby-wise, and not with the hobby you THINK I’m going to talk about!

I don’t know what made me want to, but I started picking up books that I was in the middle of and finishing them.

I finished Strangers in Death by JD Robb, finally. I remember starting it off really quickly, but then things happened and I just never got around to it again. Well, I finished what was left of it on my breaks and at work during the day. After Strangers in Death, I picked up 7th Heaven by James Patterson & Maxine Paetro.

I was much further into this book than I thought I was, and honestly, I was sort of disappointed in it. The story lines just seemed to both come from outerspace, and the link between them was weak. It’s probably my least favorite of the Women’s Murder Club series.

After I finished that book, I decided to pick up Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. A bunch of my friends have said very good things about the book, and I do like vampire love stories, so I’m surprised it took me as long as it did to actually get into it. I read the book in about 2 days between reading at work and at home. I don’t have the next books in the series, so I’m having to appease myself with A Stroke of Midnight by Laurel K Hamilton. It’s the 4th book in the Merry Gentry series.

I am itching to start a few new books, but I can’t until I buy them. lol. I’m really wanting to start The Hollow by Nora Roberts. It’s the 2nd book in the Sign of Seven trilogy. Every time I see it at the store, I want to pick it up, but I’m trying to be good and read some books that have been collecting dust on my bookshelf! I also really want to start the next book in the Twilight series, New Moon.

It’s been fun, finding my old favorite hobby again. I’ve missed it, and I didn’t realize how much until I found it again. :)

What are you reading right now?

No Disneyland this week. :(

As we were getting ready to leave yesterday, Joe goes “We can save about $150 if we leave at like 2 in the morning.”

So we were supposed to go to bed early, wake up in the middle of the night, drive to Disneyland, play at Disneyland and turn around and drive back, all in one day on like, 2 hours of sleep.

Stupid idea, in my opinion, and I knew if we planned to do it that way that we were NOT going. I got in bed about 9, set the alarm for midnight, and didn’t fall asleep until about 11:20. The alarm went off, and I’m like… screw this. I don’t sleep very well in cars, and Joe was going to do all the driving, and I’m like… no. I’m not dying on my way to or from Disneyland.

So now we might go Memorial Day weekend, and now I’m bummed, because I was really looking forward to going this week.

Oh well.

Vegas

Wow, Vegas was cool, and we didn’t even see all of it. lol. :) I’m currently uploading pics, but it was an awesome trip, even though it didn’t start out that way.

We rode BART to the airport. It was pretty nice out… a bit of fog, but nothing major. We stopped and ate lunch, then went through security. The line was pretty long, and I thought it was going to take FOREVER, but it moved pretty quickly.

We made our way to the gate where we found out the flight before us hadn’t taken off yet. Then we found out that the plane that was coming to pick us up hadn’t even left LA yet. Ugh. So we were delayed. Then we were delayed some more. Then a bit more. We left SFO about the time we were supposed to land in Vegas. Suckage.

We FINALLY got to Vegas and took a shuttle thing to the hotel. Well, that took forever, too. We probably could’ve walked faster. I think we got the new guy. lol. I was a bit cranky after being delayed 2.5 hours and getting squished into a full flight and just generally being tired of everything in the world. I did hear one interesting snippet though. The last lady to get on our shuttle was talking on the phone, and she goes “How much Nyquil does it take to kill a cat?” I think everyone was a bit horrified. I think she said something about the cat getting run over, and apparently it was expensive to care for it or something. I don’t really know the situation, but apparently the person on the other end wanted to give the cat Nyquil. WTF?

Anyway… we FINALLY made it to the hotel. We went to our room, laid down for a few minutes, and then we went to eat at the cafe inside the hotel. BIG MISTAKE. We waited in line forEVER. Then we waited for our waiter to take our order FOREVER. I wanted to leave, but Joe said we’d give it a couple more minutes then leave. Our waiter finally showed up, so we unfortunately stayed. It wouldn’t have been so bad but they weren’t even BUSY. The food took about 20 minutes to show up, so the guy is lucky. I had a mediocre salad, and Joe had a cheeseburger, and then we left. I gambled, but no major winning streaks. Bummer. We walked around for a while, and then I sat down to watch the Stars play the Sharks in a 4OT game. OMG, it was such an awesome game. I’m so pleased with the outcome, but I hope we still get the games on TV here even though the local team isn’t playing anymore. lol. Stars & Wings!!!

… more later when I feel like typing & my pics are finished uploading …

What the fuck?!

Love,
Manda

PS: I know it wasn’t really your fault. ONE of the no-goals that were called on Lil Mo was a good goal!! Please tell me you lost tonight just so you could win at home.

We leave for Vegas on Sunday, and you know what I’ll be doing Sunday night? Being glued to the TV to watch game 6!! lol

Tomorrow, though, I’m going to see the Yarn Harlot. That? will be fun!!
